  • I will be coming from England and my plane will land in Newark airport and before i leave to go to Orlando my plane will stay in newark for 9 hours. So i thought id go to brooklyn, broadway and go to the mishka shop!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

The MishkaNYC store is at 350 Broadway in Brooklyn. There is no bus service that could take you there. A taxi would take about 45 minutes (depending on traffic) but would be rather expensive - at least $70 (+ tolls and tip) one way, and then you have to go back to the airport which will cost you another $70 (+tolls and tip). You can get there by public transportation but there is no direct way: From Newark Airport, take the AirTrain Newark Liberty train station. Take a NJ Transit Railroad train to NY Penn station (fare $15.00 one way which includes the AirTrain fee). Time - about 30 minutes (but does not include waiting time fro th NJ Transit train - there are generally 3 trains per hour). At NY Penn station you then take the subway. Follow the signs to the A, C and E trains (letters in blue circles). Purchase a MetroCard from either a vending machine or a booth (one that is painted blue) for $4.50 (that covers 2 fares/round-trip). Take a DOWTOWN (Brooklyn-bound) A or C train to the Fulton St-Broadway/Nassau station. Follow the signs on the platform to the Metroploitan Avenue//Jamaica bound J. M, and Z trains (letters in brown circles). Take any train (J, M or Z) train to Marcy Avenue station in Brooklyn (1st stop over the Williamsburg Bridge). Go down (the station is elevated) to the street. 350 Broadway is couple of blocks away (under the elevated structure). The trip time on railroad and subway will be about 1 hour 30 minutes each way (includes approximate waiting time for trains. Note on the purchase of the MetroCard - the booth is CASH ONLY arrangement while the vending machines will accept cash, debit and credit cards. If using cash in the machines, please note that the maximum cahnge given is $6 and that will be in dollar coins. If using a debit or credit card and the machine asks for a zip code, put in 99999 which will tell the machine it is an international (non-US) card. Good luck and enjoy your brief stay in NY. EDIT: Please note that the subway instructions are only valid on weekdays. The J train doesn't not operate to Fulton St on weekends and the M and Z trains don't operate at all on weekends. Also, due to ongoing construction the A train will be skipping Fulton-Broadway/Nassau station this weekend and for a number of other weekends to come. As an alternate (if you are doing this on a weekend), follow the instructions above with the A and C train (the E train too) BUT get off at the West 4th St station, go downstairs for the F train and take it to Delancey Street station. Go upstairs (Essex St station) for a Brooklyn-bound J train to Marcy Avenue.
