How much is it to take a train from D.C. to NYC?

What city should we stay in in NJ where we can take a train to NYC to Yankee Stadium.?

  • We are from Florida and want to go to NYC only to see a game at Yankee Stadium. We know that it's possible to stay in New Jersey and take a train into NYC, but we don't know where in New Jersey to stay so that we can catch a train. Also, when we get to NYC, what is the best, fastest, and most economical way to get to Yankee Stadium. Or is there a way to take a train from New Jersey directly to Yankee Stadium? If not, then where in NYC will the train let us off? Thanks so much!

May I suggestion is staying in Jersey City, NJ. It closer to New York City and there are several hotels there. One of them is called Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson, right on the waterfront. You have access to the PATH Train, which is a commuter railroad that travels between New York and New Jersey, at Exchange Place. Now, there is no direct access to Yankee Stadium from New Jersey by train, so I'm go to give you point to point direction on how to get from Jersey City to Yankee Statdium. Step 1: take the PATH Train going to the World Trade Center. Follow sign that say "To New York". Step 2: at the World Trade Center, transfer to the Bronx-bound #4 train (green line). You will have to exit the PATH station at the WTC and walk to Fulton Street and Broadway and enter the subway again there. Take the Bronx-bound train to 161st Street Yankee Stadium. When you exit the subway, the stadium is right in front of you. The trip, door to door, should take about 30 to 45 minutes. The same route can be done in reverse on you return trip to Jersey City. Fares PATH Train: $3 round trip per preson MTA Subway: $4 round trip per person Now, you can buy a pay-per-ride MetroCard at any PATH stations. The card can be use on both PATH and the subway. I hope this information was very helpful. If you have any question you could drop me a line at [email protected]. Good Luck and enjoy the game.

May I suggest: not going to NJ at all? I don't understand why anyone would voluntarily go to New Jersey. It's a disgusting place and it sucks that it even exists. Stay in Southern Westchester, which is close and easily accesable to Yankee Stadium by Metro North.

OPTION 1a) rent a jersey city hotel (hopefully they have parking for your car out front) and take the path subway in. http://www.google.com/search?q=jersey+city+hotel here's a path park and ride guide, and map. http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/path/pdfs/NEW_ParkingGuide.pdf you need to take the path train TO the world trade center. at the world trade center/ground zero, walk two blocks to broadway and fulton st, and take the nyc subway #4 train uptown. it will go to yankee stadium. http://www.mta.info/nyct/index.html OPTION 1b) alternatively, you can take the path subway to herald square/macy's. over there, you can take the nyc subway D train to 161th St/ yankee stadium. OPTION 2) if you really don't want to drive that far to nyc, you can take a nj transit train somewhere and take it into new york penn station. http://www.njtransit.com from new york penn station, it's a confusing underground commuter rail hub, you look for directions to the nyc subway A train. take the A train uptown, somewhere along the way (let's say columbus circle) you transfer to the D train, which will take you to 161th st/yankee stadium option 3) metro north railroad is currently building a station at yankee stadium, and it's not gonna be finished until next year. so that option is not yet availble. http://www.mta.info/mta/news/releases/?en=070521 here is an annotated aerial view of (old) yankee stadium and where the subway and future metro north train will stop http://www.mta.info/mta/news/releases/images/mnr-rendering-may17.jpg
