How many streets in NYC, that are the bad areas?

New Yorkers: NYC or London?

  • I'm american. I'm from Brooklyn, NYC and I can tell you I love that city so much. But I've been reading on forums and theres so much beef with London and NYC In my opinion its like comparing cheesecake to chocolate cake. They taste different, but both so goood. What I like about New York: The Skyscrapers, I love walking through manhattan and being surrounded by marvels of engineering. The accesibility, all five boroughs are accesible via train 24/7. And even if you dont want to take the train, the island of manhattan is so dense that you could really just walk from the financial district to central park without busting your a$$. The 24 hour culture. For instance, there are just as many people on the street at 4am (in certain neighborhoods) as there are people walking around at 4pm What I dislike: The NYC superiority complex. I mean I do believe that NYC is the best city in the US, but thats just cause I'm from there, people from Chicago, LA, or Houston will say otherwise. New Yorkers tend to think of themselves as the center of the universe. The crime. Some areas are very dangerous. And since its the US guns are all over so it makes it more dangerous. What I like about London The history: Its crazy to walk down a street and know that about 2000 years over history happened in that same spot. The fact that its in the UK. I find the UK in general to have a higher quality of life. The safety. Yeah some areas like Brixton, Peckham, and Tower Hamlets are pretty sketchy..but i feel a lot more safe in peckham than i do in Harlem or the South Bronx What I dont like about London Some of the architecture. I mean some areas are so beautiful, but since the nazis reall destoryed a lot london a lot of the structures built in the 50's 60's and 70's are very visually unnappealing The High Taxes. In NYC a single person pays about 30% in taxes. The UK its more like 45% The fact that most of london (not soho!) closes down pretty early. The streets are pretty dead at night. Im not trying to start trouble, but I asked in the London section and I want my fellow NYers togive me some feedback

  • Answer:

London is a far more superior city on every aspect. NYC is just a lame cesspit.

I've lived in NYC my whole life and there's no other place that I would want to live in.

I've been living in NYC my entire life and don't plan on living anywhere else. I really do like London and would love to visit someday, but I don't think that I could ever live there. It seems like a fascinating place, it has so much history and charm. I still love my hometown more though, I will always represent New York City.

The City I Like the most by far is Winston-Salem, North Carolina better that I would take New York or London any day. What I Like about Winston-Salem: The Skyscrapers, I love walking through Downtown Winston-Salem and being surrounded by good structures such as The Wachovia Building, The GMAC Tower, Happy Hills Park near The School of the Arts and Winston-Salem State University, BB&T Ballpark home of The Winston-Salem Dash baseball team, The BB&T Tower next to The Wachovia Building, the very friendly people that owe you in a polite friendly manor $$, this city is relaxing. For example, nice restaurants to eat out at. Some examples are Noma's Italian, The West End Cafe, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Jimmy John's Subs, The Mellow Mushroom Pizza Parlor right there on 1st Street, Thruway Center with The Loop Pizza Grill, The Carving Board, Sociale Gourmet in 380 Knollwood Street among others such as The Fox and The Hound Bar in Lower Thruway and The Diamondback Cafe in a neighborhood called Buena Vista right there near Wake Forest University home of The Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The streets are dead at night but wide awake in the afternoon especially South Stratford Road right off of Business I-40 on the way to Greensboro.
