What are interesting ideas for a trip to NYC?

Day Trip To NYC/Boston or Night at Beach?? Birthday Present Ideas!!?

• My boyfriends 21st birthday is coming up. I want to plan some kind of fun activity. I was thinking either a day trip to Boston or NYC or maybe an overnight at a beach in the Northeast. I would really like to stay under $150... $200 max. We live near Albany, NY. Any ideas of activities (maybe a cool show??) in either of the cities or a cheap but relaxing beach within maybe a 5 hour drive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

  Hi Neighbor---I TOO live near Albany... anyway, good luck doing ANYTHING in NYC or Boston for the little money you want.... the drive alone will cost you (1 way) $5.85 Thruway toll, $4 Tappanzee Bridge toll, there's another toll that's $1 just after the "Z"...and parking will run you $25-60 easy..if you can even FIND parking... Does your boyfriend like sports? If so, a day at Yankee Stadium would be nice... Call Yankee Trailways in East Greenbush they sometimes have special packages for games and bus rides to and from the stadium... if that doesn't work for you, and he is a (cough cough) Red Sox fan (boooooo).... you could still call Yankee Trailways and see if they have any packages going to Fenway park in Boston for a game... Driving to NYC is a pain in the butt, can be very expensive and the traffic is HORRIBLE and if you haven't driven to Boston ever.... well you won't enjoy THAT much either... Albany rushhour traffic is NOTHING compared to NY and Boston traffic all the time. Ok the beach idea is good only if - - depends on the beach... A lot of state parks got closed by our wonderful"(cough cough) governor but there is Grafton State Park and Moreau State park (up near Glens Falls) or Lake George!!! if I were your boyfriend I would maybe want to go up to Lake george and you can go on one of those parasail boats... any guy would LOVE that---and if you try that--bring your camera for some really good shots of HIM in the air behind the boat... you can find out about that by calling the Lake George Chamber of Commerce or GOOGLE parasailing on Lake george... Have fun.
