What are some places to go camping near New York City?

Any suggestions of places to go in New York City?

• Me and my friend are spending the day in the city. I was wondering if anybody knew of some awesome places to go besides central park cause thats already on our agenda. Were both 20 so maybe some not so legit places that will serve us drinks or some great artsy places to take pictures at. Later in the night were going to a concert at Grammercy theatre so if anyone knows of places near there that would be awesome. Thanks to anyone who responds :) !!

  A few blocks west of the Gramercy Theater is the Shake Shack at 23rd and Madison; you can grab some food there. While you're there, keep walking a little further west and there are photo opportunities: there's the Flatiron Building, the obelisk at Worth Square opposite that where General Worth is entombed, and interesting high-rise buildings along the east side of Madison Square Park. From there take the N or R trains to Union Square for more photo opportunities. The Metronome is there, and it will tell you what time it is if you know how to read it. There are some other interesting things near and in the park; and if you're there on April 7 @3PM that's when they're having the next big pillow fight there. You can also take the N or R trains to Cortlandt St where you can start and take an entire day to explore the Financial District, visit the WTC site, or walk around in Battery Park City. For example, if you go to Battery Park City at night make sure you find both the South Cove and the Winter Garden attrium. If you go the Financial District at night, make sure you at least find the Grid Clock, Elevated Acre and Pier 11 at South St. Seaport which has nice views of Brooklyn and three of the East River bridges. Those are just a small few ideas.
