Has anyone moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania?

Anyone from New Jersey?! My mum died...?

  • I'm 17 years old and I'm Canadian but, I moved to England (with mum) when I was 7. My dad stayed in Canada and died when I was 11. My mum died 4 weeks ago and I have NO family in this country at all so social services have helped me get in touch with family and I've spoken to my aunt but she lived in a place called Red Bank in New Jersey, in America (I think...). Anyways, she's decided that the best thing to do would be if I moved over there with her (since I have no money and I'll be asked to leave the house I'm in soon). I'm moving next week but I really don't know what to expect. I really like it here, I have a big nice house, I'm at sixth form (year 12) and doing really well at my A-Levels and I've made friends but moving is really my only option. Does anyone know what this place is like? I'm so confused and have no idea what to expect. I'm scared I won't fit in at all. I've tried to look it up and it looks really small but I live in a very well built up area right now and I just feel like it'll be so weird. Any advice - anyone please just give me some information! What will I do about school? Will I make friends? What is there to do there?! Ahhh :-(

If your in the last year of school, it would be good if you could complete your A levels here. You say you have friends, would any of them let you stay with them until you've done your final exams? I mean who have you been with for the last few weeks? Really sorry about your mum. It's horrid! God bless

don't worry, you will be fine. New Jersey is a nice state. You have lot of schools and colleges there. You will make new friends. US and canada are very alike, you will not miss canada. However, US and England are different. Try to accept this change and then you will feel better. Be happy that you have some one in this world who wants to take care of you and moreover you are coming to the greatest country on earth. millions of people want to come to America but not all can. Good Luck. You may send me a personal message if you need someone to talk to.

I'm from New Jersey, but it is a very diverse state & every area is different. I don't know much about Red Bank, but it is in Monmouth county which is near the beach. I think Red Bank is supposed to be a pretty nice area. Jersey in general is known for it's nice suburban homes, malls, & the shore. The Jersey shore is absolutely awesome. Some areas of Jersey are not as nice, but it's generally a pretty nice place to live. I didn'tlike growing up there, but now that I live in NY, I miss the beach & the spunky people. Don't listen to anyone who says Jersey is trash, or it's like it's portrayed on TV. It's a diverse state and everyone's different.

Sorry about the loss of your Mom, I think you are better off staying where you are. New Jersey is not such a fun place to be. I'd go for a visit to see it. but i still think you are better of in the UK. or return to Canada. I understand. then go to your aunt. Red Bank is near beaches and is about an hour and a half from NYC

I'm sorry about your loss. You'll be fine in New Jersey. Don't worry, it's nothing like that lame MTV show. People make lots of jokes about New Jersey, I know I make jokes, but to be completely serious it's not that bad. You'll make friends and everything. And when you finish high school and college if you still want you could look to move back to Canada.

Sorry for your loss, and don't worry, the area you are going to is nice. Join some clubs in school and make some new friends! Good luck babe!
