Reciprocity from California to New York?

Is New York better than California?

• So I'm a 20 year old guy, soon to be 21, and I've lived in California my whole life, but getting a job here is getting difficult; because it is so over crowded here, plus, I'm sick of California already..And I'm thinking on running off to New York, to start fresh, and start a new life there..well my question is simple: is New York a better place for pursuing your financial goals? and does NY offer more job opportunities to the average joe?

  Assuming you mean NYC...Not so much for the average Joe. If you have a degree in finance, law, etc.., you'll have plenty of opportunities to earn and excel, but if you show up with just a high school diploma and no real world experience in your chosen field, the job market shrinks drastically. NYC is not a place to come to half ******. It is very unforgiving. Sometimes changing cities can help. Have you considered staying in California, but moving up north or south (depending on where you are)? I've spent a lot of time in Southern California/LA over the years for my career and I can tell you that I would never live there, but I might consider something like San Francisco. LA is too plastic and laid back for what I'm used to. I don't like phonies and drama. As far as lifestyle, NYC is extremely different, despite sharing some big city similarities. It's a fast paced environment, very competitive, brutally honest, in your face, heavily populated (8 million+ in NYC alone), aggressive and not for the easily startled. That being said... I wouldn't have it any other way!
