In some instances its simply cheaper for people to donate the tree.... ( Rock Ctr) picks up the cost for cutting/removal of the tree from the property. Depending on the size of the tree this could set the homeowner back a few bucks. Also Rock Ctr. has a team of temporary electricians that build new lights for the tree annually. They usually start work in late June/early July and the lights as well as the tree go into recycling bin after the holiday.

I think they have scouts that go looking. I would guess that people also volunteer their trees and the scouts come look at it if it meets the criteria.
