Roommates can be a challenge. If you find and available place to live for less money in Manhattan it probably comes with quirks. Many people opt for Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx with a 30 minute subway ride to Manhattan. Enjoy the journey.

I love NYC, but its a love hate relationship. Love to go, would hate to live. If you don't have a lot of money to throw around your likely living in a sketchy neighborhood with sketchy people. Supposedly cheapest place would be 1k to live in Manhattan, and that is an efficiency in the bad part of town. However if you don't mind living in queens or brooklyn then you can find cheaper.

My friend, do you have job line up? If not, I would advice getting to it if you want to get an apartment in NYC. That's because the rent here don't come cheap. Get a job first and worry about the apartment later. Good luck
