How often are the handrails/poles in NYC subway cars cleaned?

NYC itinerary and the subway advice?

  • Is there a way to coordinate my trip with the subway? I am planning on getting all day passes for 4 adults and 3 children. I don't know the routes what so ever other than they are everywhere. Right now I am mapping it on google maps on walking mode, wish there was a subway mode. It keeps freezing after my 8th stop though, lol. My tentative itinerary is: breakfast in car en-route... get to nyc 7am get situated and parked 8am-10am: science and space museum 10am-12:30central park zoo lunch at conclusion 12:45-2fao schwarz toy store 2:30-3world trade center memorial 3:15-4Teardrop park in battery park 4:15-5:30 walk the highline from gansevoort st to the 22nd 5:30-6:30 Catch dinner 6:30- go to time square Then from there a lot of window shopping with toys r us, disney store, and other kid friendly places I was thinking of ending the night with a horse drawn carriage ride through central park up to harlem where I planned on parking my car. price depending, otherwise we would take the subway back to the car. 9-10pm in car and getting back home ugh, 3hr car ride... Not sure when and where would be dinner. I was thinking of asking my parents who are coming with us if they could allow me to take an excursion from 7:30 on to have a bite at Joe's Shanghai and then check out 2 aquarium stores in chinatown and purchase some rare fishys. This has to be at the conclusion of the trip, stores I believe close at 9 and I can't have fish jostling around in my backpack through out the city, so yes, at the conclusion. I guestimated traveling time but its a flexible schedule. Thanx for any advice!

You will be exhausted! So, subway fare is $2.25 per person. Little children can get in for free so ask the people in the booth. Which part of central park are you going to because it is a huge park to give you just any subway line. FAO S is Q,N,R 59th st 5th ave

2 hours in American Museum of Natural History is not enough; that place has a lot of exhibits to see. So you maybe spending more time in that place; I would say 3 to 4 hours at least. and skip movies or other paid attractions if you need to keep on time. The zoo is really small, may take 20 to 40 mins to see all exhibits; the only excitement to see is otters eating at lunch hour show. horse drawn carriage, skip that... not that romantic and its pricey. Too much walking.... :)
