How is it like living in New York City?

I really love it here and I can't picture myself living anywhere else. I'm a born and bred new yorker and I really like the country but I can't stay away from the city for more than a month at a time. There are houses but no so much in Manhattan. They only houses in manhattan are more town-house like. I think that's what you call them. In the other boroughs there are tons more houses but I really only know about Brooklyn Manhattan and Queens. In terms of saftey all the boroughs have thier good parts and thier not so great parts. Sometime people get confused and think that manhattan is just like this shining jewel of beauty and amazement but it's like that everywhere and for Brooklyn people generally think it's like this big Ghetto dump but it's not like that at all. There are really good and bad places all over NYC. There is quite of bit of crime in NYC but it's been getting a lot better over the years. As long as you protect yourself i'm sure you'll be fine. I've never been a victim of crime or anything like that. People for the most part are kind of rushed, as on people on the street but once you find your niche it's great. You stop worrying about the rude guy who bumped into you this morning. It also depends on where you go. The more family oriented neighborhoods are great and people will just chat with you. Things are sort of expensive I guess but the longer you stay in the city the more really great places you'll find. Like nice stores with greta deals. i.e beacon's closet :D Hope this Helps K

New York City is amazing and I think even more so for artists and creative types. I'm not in the industry, but it's something you can see and feel in the city. There is always a source and outlet for your creativity in this city. NYC is now one of the safest cities in the world although there are still parts of the city that aren't that safe. As one answer says, use common sense. Harlem still scares me lol. There are a few houses in the city, known as brownstones, but those are incredibly expensive.Things are really expensive, but you can find roommates and split the costs. To cut costs you can also move to a very nearby suburb such as Williamsburg or Astoria, some even move to Jersey. People in NY are busy, rushed, and stressed, and to some maybe even mean lol. I'll also be honest and say certain personalities may not find NYC appealing. I hope that helps!
