What are the best areas around High Wycombe to live?

Inexpensive yet nice areas to live in that are within an hour of West Babylon, NY?

  • I recently moved to West Babylon, NY on Long Island. I live with my boyfriend in a 1.5 bedroom apartment for $1100/month (which we split in half). I recently moved from Connecticut to live here. My mom still lives up in Connecticut, but she wants to move down here because the 3 hour commute is too much to see me. What are some inexpensive areas to live in that are 1 hour or less from where I live? I've been looking into Queens/Brooklyn but I'm not sure if some areas are ghetto. I know Williamsburg is nice, but it's pricey. She's living on her own with her dog and she doesn't want to spend over $900. She currently pays $775 for a 2 bedroom in Connecticut. Bottom line, I just want a list of neighborhoods in Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau or Suffolk that are nice to live in for a 45 yr old white female and her dog. Thanks!
