Do you know about any cheap long term 1room aparments in Rome?

Does anyone know of cheap Long term parking in New Orleans? Hotels? Casinos?

  • Looking to park a car for 6 days while we go on a cruise leaving from New Orleans and to park at the port is $14/day per car? Anyone know of something cheaper?

  • Answer:

Well, I found what SEEMED like a fairly reasonable option for you -- the Best Western New Orleans Inn at the Airport offers long-term parking in their lot for $7 a day. I called the hotel to find out whether you had to be a guest at the hotel to take advantage of that, and good news -- you don't! The representative I spoke with told me that you just need to arrive at the lot and let the attendant know that you're leaving their car their on a long-term basis; no need to pre-book or anything. Of course, the problem then is that you're stuck out by the airport when you need to be by the port. And if you take a cab, you actually end up spending MORE than if you'd just parked at the port in the first place. I called both United Cabs and Checker Yellow Cabs and was quoted a rate of $29 by both for two people going one-way from the airport to the port. Factor in two journeys, and now you're spending $58 (plus tip) on cab fare alone, just to park for $42 (6 days x $7) instead of $84 (6 days x $14.) With your total at $100 (plus tip) versus $84, you might as well just shell out the $14 and park at the port! It's actually not such a bad rate -- I called Central Parking Systems in New Orleans and got a rate of $25 a day, and Park One Incorporated and got a rate of $20. One final pointer: I've heard a rumor that you can park in the Hilton Garden Inn's lot for $12 when going on a cruise (it's right near the port), but when I called the Hilton to confirm this, I was put through to a line that just rang and rang. I've listed the number below in case you want to try yourself -- perhaps you'll have better luck! Hope this helps a little -- and have a wonderful time!

I would spring for the money at the port. New Orleans reeks with crime and you need a secure place for your car.

honestly i would just park at the port, you'll be right there and knwo that your car is safe, most expented parking places have no security, like the one at the amtrak/ greyhound station, its worth the money to know that your car will be there but not beacsue new orleans is full of crime, but in ANY city parking overnight at some random lot set you up to get your car stolen NOT just new orleans, i tired of people saying neworleans is crime infested or worse than any other city.

Despite the answer from "Glen", the real concern isn't having your car stolen - it's parking violations. New Orleans' parking code prohibits the storage of vehicles on a public street, which means you can be in violation even if you find a parking space in the CBD that doesn't have a meter. Property owners (such as at a large grocery store) can have your car towed away if you leave it in their lot w/o permission. "Travelocity...." is right and the $14/day may be your best option. However, you need to look a little more. For example, does your employer have a branch (or a good customer) in New Orleans ? Do you belong to a professional or social association with members in NOLA? Are you a fire-fighter, police officer, museum employee, whatever? If yes, find a way to make contact with someone similar here and ask if you can leave your car in their lot/garage. Good luck!

I believe that it is very important on Yahoo Answers to be precise in the questions we ask and the answers we offer. You ask, "Does anybody know . . . ?" There can be only two possible answers to that question: Either somebody knows; or Nobody knows. In the present case, certainly there must be somebody out there who knows. So my answer is a resounding YES!! But is that what you really were asking? .
