Can i go to U.S on my police record our do i need a visa?

I am a Bahamian Citizen my Visa has just expired and now i must head to Nassau Bahamas to obtain a new one which will cause me to have to spend extra money that i could use on Christmas shopping . i wanted to know if i could travel on my police record our do i have to obtain another U.S Visa because if in fact i can travel on my police record then it will save me from having to spend money on a plain ticket to go to Nassau to get the visa then spend an extra 100$ dollars to pay for the Visa if in fact i don't have to do all that and can go on my police record and passport then ill save 400$ dollars that i could spend on other things rather than spending it to have to go get the Dam Visa.
