Answer:
I really don't think you'll be able to afford it. If they're not giving you 40 hours now they won't give it to you anytime soon. so with 30 hours you'll only be making $1020/month and that's before they take taxes from your check. Assuming you're lucky and get a decent apt for $800 you'll only have $220 then you have to pay utlitlites, a rough estimate of $150 would leave you with $70. You need food and gas to get to work... it just doesn't add up. you'll be making a mistake. maybe if you know you'll get 40 hours for sure but even then you'll be living paycheck to paycheck and it's not worth it.

Pembroke Pines is in southern Broward County, a bit west of Hollywood. It is more of a suburb of Ft Lauderdale then of Miami. It is a typical big city suburb, most of the town is safe, use common sense. If you are commuting into Miami expect a 1 way trip to take about 1 hour using I-95. Commuting into Miami is a tough drive due to all the traffic. The pay scale down here is lower then up north but we have no state income tax. A 2 bedroom condo will rent for a bit under $1,000, higher if you go to one of the large complexes You might want to think about a roomate. Electric will average about $60+ depenmding on how you run your a/c in the summer season. Start shopping for any kind of insurance now, your going to be shocked at the rates. The local major paper is the Ft Lauderdale Sun-Sentinal. You can goodle it on line & get an idea of what is available in Pembroke. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Well lets work it out. I'm assuming the job is full time working 8 hours a day and 5 days a week. $8.50 x 8 hours a day x 5 days a week = $340 paycheck (weekly) or $1360 (monthly) Average rent in a decent area would be about $800 monthly so subtract that from your monthly paycheck of $1360 and your left with $560. Include utility bills (electric/water/cable) which may come out to $165 monthly and subtract that from your $560 and your left with $395. Include food and gas for your car (assuming you have one) and that's another $130 and subtract that from $395 and your left with $265. For other expenses I'll just throw in another $70 so subtract that from $265 and your left with $195. Well there you go. Your paycheck is basically gone and all of it went towards your means of living. Can you survive? Yes. Will you live comfortably for the first month(s)? No. If you cannot afford rent past $800 a month then there is always an alternative way. There are plenty of people that need roommates. You can easily rent a room and only pay $500 a month which usually includes utilities such as water, electric, and cable. Doing that would save you roughly $300 a month. After you get an increase in your paycheck then maybe you can find your own place. Here is a tip. If your job is in Pembroke pines you have no reason you live in Miami. Traffic would kill you on the way to work and most areas in the northeastern part of Miami are heaps of elephant dung. If your job is in Pembroke Pines then live around that area. Good places to live are Miramar, Davie, Hollywood, and of course Pembroke Pines. All of those are roughly 15 mins away from each other depending on where you live and it would make your day much easier. Good luck in whatever you do.
