How can I get from Nice airport to the old port?

How can I get from ft. lauderdale airport to port of Miami?

  • How can I get from Ft. Lauderdale airport to Port of Miami and then return to airport w/o spending $$$$$$?

  • Answer:

Check with your cruise line to see if they have a deal with a specific shuttle company. If not, there are several shuttles that pick up outside arrivals. Prices vary & some have special deals for two or more. If you have lots of time & don't mind carrying your own luggage the Tri Rail service is also an option. [Less than about $6.00 each way per person] However, you must keep in mind that you have to walk from the terminal to the bus stop, way over to the left of arrivals [with baggage] wait up to 45 minutes or even more for the shuttle to the Dania Beach Tri Rail station and then wait 30 minutes or longer for the Tri Rail.(weekend waits are two hours) Once you're on the train, you have to take it South to the MetroRail transfer station. [in Miami] Then get on the MetroRail (another train) [$1.50 ] and then take that to the Government Center Station. [Downtown Miami] Once you're there you can take a cab a short distance to the port. [If you're trying for the Jack Benny tightwad record you can even get a port bus nearby - ask at the Gov't Center info desk for location - for a $.50 transfer fee purchased when you board Metro-Rail].

From Ft Lauderdale airport take the bus to the Tri-rail terminal that is on the back side of the airport. Just ask for the Tri-Rial connector. Tri-Rial South to Miami. $4 each person. http://www.tri-rail.com/ Just before the Miami airport the Tri-Rial connects to MetroRail. Transfer to MetroRail. MetroRail goes to downtown Miami and also connects to the down town people mover called MetroMover. You can transfer from MetroRail to the Metromover for free. Ride the down town loop. http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/moverstations.asp You are then quite close to the entrance to the Port of Miami, about 1/4 of a mile. Depending on your luggage, and if you are fit young people or not, you can walk the rest, or catch a cab. The port it's self is a big port, about 2 miles long, so if you have a lot of luggage taking a cab the last bit may make good sense.
