What foods are good to bring on a road trip?

What do I need for an enjoyable & hassle-free road trip?

  • In March, two of my best friends and I are going on a road trip from Kansas to Florida. Its a 24 hour drive and we're leaving late at night. I need help planning this road-adventure out. What do I need to keep my friends comfortable? What should I bring? What foods/Drinks should I pack for the cooler? What can I do to keep the trip from being miserable? Etc. I need all the imformation I can get!

  • Answer:

Bring LOTS water, and non perishable foods (lettuce on sandwiches make sandwiches soggy), crackers are good, if anyone is diabetic you need to know for foods, bring chocolate bars for times of lacking energy. Be sure to pack a emergancy kit, bandages, gauze, iodine/peroxide, etc Make sure your vehicle is in safe working order, check all fluids, make sure you know how far you can go on a tank of gas/diesel, and maybe where the fuel stations are on your route (Most gas stations have websites with locations of their sites). Find out what music everyone likes and try to make a good synergy of the different musics, for example: if no one likes country, don't put country on. Bring at least 2 pillows, so the passengers can sleep while the driver goes on. DO NOT DRIVE WHEN YOU ARE TIRED IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK OF THE LIVES OF YOUR PASSENGERS OR YOU, I cannot stress that enough.

hello, what you need for a great road trip, is music! great music!!! choose different types of music you and your best friends enjoy and listen to it according to the state you are in, that should be fun, try not to repeat any song along the way, sing and enjoy!!! about food & drinks, my suggestion is to bring some water, and ocassionaly make a stop to grab a bite, have a warm coffe, or a chilled soda and some snacks, you can pack your cooler with some of these things, but in a long road trip is better to stop and indulge, wear comfortable clothing and remember, good music!!!

Some suggestions: Never hurts to have a great compliation mix of your (and your friends) favorite music to keep you going - if you can put all of your favorite songs on one to three discs, it will reduce the amount of stress "searching" for your favorite albums while driving. I'd recommend light juices and water, maybe a soda or two in case the sugar craving comes up. Small, portable snack in bulk are the best - (reduces the amount of trash your car will collect) dried fruits, apples and pears (no peel, less trash), trail mix and a large bag of m&ms always works great. Beef jerky if you have no qualms with meat. Anything that has a minimal of packaging works best. Have a great trip!

Make sure you bring lots of sodas! Have your favorite cd's out. Make sure you know where the rest stops are in case you both get too tired to drive. Gotta have snacks! Get an updated map and high lite your trip. Make sure you have enough gas money and money to buy trinkets in case you stop anywhere. Small pillows to rest your heads. a blanket to keep warm.................. I hope this helps some. This is a few of the ideas I used when we drove from Virginia Beach to Jacksonville Florida, and we drove straight! Good luck & have a safe trip! : )

first, get a god map or gps system, I like Microsoft street and trips with gps 2006, it talks to you , but you will need a converter to plug your laptop into the car, they are about $30.00 at walmart, and the software was $129.99, if you use a map, highlight the route and make sure to stay on it. 2) pillows and a couple of light blankets to cover up with so you can take naps. 3) as far as food goes, nothing perishable, stick to chips and candy bars, and water. also stop about every 4 hours to stretch your legs and walk around a little bit and to use the restroom.4) your car charger for your cell phones, and have the oil and filters changed including the transmission and radiator, check all the tires for good tread, and make sure the spare has air in it and where the jack and lug wrench are at and that you have one, a good flashlight and road reflectors . And most of all, have a safe and fun trip!

my bf and i did this last march from chicago to florida and although the scenes were awesome the trip is SO NOT WORTH IT! it's way too long! and driving in tennessee amonst truckers and steep roads at 5am almost gave me a panic attack! lol but if you must: bring plenty of snacks and pack a cooler with sandwiches and fruits n veggies energy drinks are great to get you wired but they're sugary and afer 10 hours of driving they'll get you no where...except for a restroom every 40 miles...nix the sugary drinks n bring water instead set aside time and money to sleep at a hotel on the way! it's not worth falling asleep at the wheel...and you will want to! usually people agree to switch off at the wheel, but after being in the car for so long everyone just wants to sleep until they get there....so consider this. bring comfy travel pillows, maybe a portable dvd player if you have one...buy travel/road trip games for extra entertainment...or make up your own remember to take the charger for the cell phone! georgia has the best peaches n pecans, so make sure you make a quick stop on your way back home to pick some up!
