Where is the closest place to Miami I can stay, without actually staying in Miami??

There is so much to do in Miami, but I heard it is all spanish-speaking people down there and that it is dirty. Where can I stay that is close enough to shops, restaurants, beaches that are in Miami without staying there. I thought Ft. Lauderdale??

Im in Miami right now and yes it's dirty, but you can stay in Hollywood or Hallandale beach in Fort Lauderdale, or you can go south of Miami and stay in Key West.

I know you said not in miami...but I recommend Brickell....it's in miami so you'll be REALLY close..but it's nice...check out this site www.miamidowntownlife.com and look at the brickell stuff going on ! good luck

Why not stay in Miami Beach, Coral Gables or Coconut Grove. Embrace the different cultures within the area. You must have lunch or dinner at the Versailles restaurant. Enjoy some cuban coffee, guava pastries (sooo good), and other specialties.
