Does anyone know of CLEAN hotels in Miami?
-
I've been to Miami three times and LOVE IT! Six friends and I will be traveling once again to South Beach in November 2008 to celebrate my birthday. My only complaint are the hotels. All three times I've been, the hotels have been deplorable: The Wave, Shelbourne, and Boulevard Hotels. Does anyone know any good hotels to stay in in the South Beach area? We're not even asking for much, just some place clean, where the furniture doesn't look like it's been chewed on. We'd like to stay between the 500 to 2000 blocks of Washington, Collins, and Ocean Drive. Thanks everyone!

Answer:
Not sure of any off hand, but just a side note about hotels. They are not required to wash the bedspreads or the pillows (sheets and pillowcases, yes), so go in there knowing that they are dirty. When I travel, I take my own pillow, strip the bedspread, and check the drawers and between the mattresses. You'd be shocked what you will find.

Try TripAdvisor.com. It has comments from past guests on hotels all over the world. Since you have a large group, you might also be interested in checking for apts/condos. HomeAway.com has listings for those.

the thing you have to understand about South Beach is that it is an art deco theme and the hotels are that way too. most of them are old (aside from the new million dollar condos). I completely agree with what you are saying though because that is my biggest pet peeve is that hotels are old and musty. What i do, is stay further north and then migrate to south beach while i'm there. I just got sick and tired of not finding a nice place, or nice for my standards.

I would recommend Royal Palm. that hotel is just LOVELY and definitely clean. And it isnt far from South beach strip. Stay away from Tudor Hotel. That hotel has the perfect location but it is a disaster!!! It is dirty and is in need for a severe upgrade!

When I go to Miami I like to stay in the Dadeland area. There is a Ramada on Dixie, just outside of Kendel that is clean and a reasonable price. 20 minutes from Miami Beach... ....and go to Mangos

Loews Miami Beach (1601 Collins Ave) is beautiful from what i've heard...we have had many many complaints from clients staying at all 3 hotels that you've mentioned, but very very few, if any, from Loews.
