Is the water too cold on Pacific Beach Ca to swim?

LA Beach water Temps....too cold to swim ?

  • I vacation alot in Florida when water Temps run 80-90 degrees in summer. I see the California Temps around 60-70. Thats cold ! How do people stand swimming on the beaches around LA ?

I moved here about a year ago and have been thoroughly disappointed with not being able to swim. I was down in the ocean the other week for about a second... it feels like ice water and it was mid-August.

lol, well, once you get in, you kinda get used to it. although you usually get a little numb from the cold. most people hop into wetsuits or dont get all the way in.

60 to 70 is the summer average for New Jersey to Maine. And people swim in it all summer long. It's what you're used to.

well I have been swimming in the LA water since I was born so im used to it. Most people wear wetsuits even though its not ideal. California comes with nice weather and cold ocean.

I live at the beach and the water is burrrrrrr....very cold and the air temp is quite chilly too. We live in the jetstream.

We DON'T! We just lay out on the sand and work on our tans. Or go swimming in the pool, which is usually very nice.
