Answer:
That's a pretty good plan. To be honest, you could spend 2 weeks in SoCal and not do everything, so what you do is just set your budget, figure out how many days you can afford, and go. If you can afford 7 days, you could see a lot more. (See some of my other answers in this category for a list of things to do). 3 days in Disneyland should be just about right in summer. If I was 11, I'd be excitied too. Heck, I go every week and I'm always excited. The new fireworks show begins June 12 (complete with flying Dumbo as well as Tinkerbell), as does an improved Fantasmic show (new 40-foot-tall full-body dragon!), as well as a revamped Electrical Parade at California Adventure (adding some floats from the original parade, and changing the lead float from Blue Fairy to Tinkerbell). If it were fall, you would only really need 2 days in Disneyland, since the lines are so much shorter. Trust me, you're going to be TIRED. Remember that Disneyland is a marathon, not a sprint. One of our favorite activities (Mrs. Obviousman and I, that is) is to sit at one of the outdoor restaurants in the evening, and watch all the toddler-toting parents leave the park. Just about everyone is burnt out at the end of the day, so it's important to remember to wear good tennis shoes, bring water, arrive early, and pace yourself. Ride as many rides as you can before noon, then slow down in the afternoon, watching parades and using FastPasses you accumulated in the morning. As for the plane, just think of it as an E-ticket ride. The only (slightly) scary parts are the takeoff and landing. Cruising is a breeze. Just for giggles, see how many landmarks you can ID from the air. You'll find that states aren't colored like on a map, and there aren't dotted lines to show the boundaries. You have to use the Interstates as your guide. There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of “must sees”. Visit as many as you have time for.: Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination. Even if you don’t visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And they’re free to visit. Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood & Highland complex is AMAZING. It has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater (home of the Academy Awards). I also like the El Capitan theater, right across the street, where Disney shows their movies. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors. Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you'll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. Santa Monica: Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach. Third Street Promenade - Downtown Santa Monica's shopping promenade is often the scene of movie star-sightings. Sunset Boulevard: Perhaps one of the world's most famous streets, it began as a route between the stars' posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the "Sunset Strip" on its way. Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, The Grove and Farmers Market coexist. Enjoy a movie or shopping, and then take the trolley to the Farmers Market for lunch or dinner. It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping "The Price is Right". Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage. Getty Museum - The Getty's architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. Free. Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It's very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show. Check the NBC web site for all the details there. Places to eat: In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone. Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe. Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown. Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celeb Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot. The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.

If you are going to Disneyland California and you only have 5 days I would do two days in the park and then explore. There is so much to see and do in the area, parks, mountains, ocean/beaches, San Diego Zoo, etc. If you can stay an extra 2 days it would make your trip so much more worthwhile.

1 day is 1 day too much. Disneyland is way too overpriced. If you have small kids, go for 1 day. There are a lot more things to do in California. If you don't have kids, don't go at all. The best vacations are ones without plans.

that is plenty of time not too short , not too long . It gives you time to see everything in the park

During normal conditioins it takes me two days to do every good attraction once then a third day to go back and do my favorites over and over so three days will be perfect. With the slow economy the crowds might be smaller so you might actually make good time.

If you only have 5 days total, I'd say 2 days in the parks is plenty. There are so many other things to do in LA.

i decided to help you out with this question as well, lol, I do not think 3 days is too much, you will need at least one day per park during the summer, and if you missed something you really wanted to see/do you could go back third day...there is so much to see and do at DLAND that is can become overwhelming, best thing to do is get a park map at entrance and try and plan out your day, with what shows you want to see, and must ride rides. this will help you to be in right section of park to be able to have quick access to shows. 5 days in california however is not long enough to cover the entire state, there is just way to much to see and do (especially with atleast 2 days at DLAND) since you will be in the orange county area i would suggest just staying there, there is plenty there for you. top of the line beaches, with unbelievable views. a great beach is Huntington beach, not a far drive, beach has lots of shops and a pier with a rubys at the end, nothing beats a day at the beach...good luck and have fun on your trip, if youd like more info id be willing to help you out.
