Where is good for private camping?

Where is a good place to go camping in Los Angeles CA right now on the cold?

There aren't many campgrounds in the Los Angeles area. You have to go about 100 miles away to find many campsites. I'll be at Carpinteria this weekend, which is a great place to camp. We're bringing the turkey and the turkey roaster. However, I don't believe there are any sites available. You can reserve sites at www.reserveamerica.com. Good luck

If you're looking for cold, may I suggest Kern County's Lake Isabella / Kern River area. You will get all the cold (over night) you want, and possibly, with the rain this week, even some snow.

There are tons of state campgrounds near LA. You don't have to drive 100 miles either. http://www.parks.ca.gov/parkindex/
