Los angeles - things to do?

• Hi! I will be in los angeles on may 19. However, this is not my last stop. I will be arriving at 5 pm on may 19 and will have to catch a connecting flight at 1 am. So I will be in los angeles for 8 hours waiting for my connection to houston. Instead of spending the entire 8 hours in the airport, what are the things I can do or places I can go to. I will be alone and I dont have car. I will basically be commuting. Can anyone please help me. Thanks.

  You need to be back by 11 PM go get through security and make your flight. You could go to Hollywood by taking the free shuttle to the green line rail, transferring to the blue line north to the 7th street metro station, then taking the red line subway to Hollwyood. However, taking the return trip could be pretty dangerous. Those trains go through some pretty rough neighborhoods, and it would be late. You might want to just take the Flyaway bus from LAX to Union Station, then go to Hollywood. You could probably spend about 2 hours there before you had to go back.
