Will Disneyland be very crowded this Sunday?

How much can I do/see at Disneyland?

  • I plan on visiting Disneyland on either a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday in early May. Because I've never been. I was wondering what is the best day to go to avoid crowds (although I'm sure its crowded everyday). And also, how long should I expect to wait in lines for rides and how much should I expect to spend? Thanks:)

  • Answer:

I agree with George. Lines will be loooong because it is spring, warm, and near breaks. Monday would be slightly better than Sunday or Saturday, but not by a lot. If you go on Disneyland's site and look @ blackout dates for the Annual Pass holders, you can get an idea of which are the busiest (if it's not blacked out for pass-holders, Disneyland is probably expecting a smaller crowd. Advice: -GO EARLY I believe the park opens @ 10, be parking your car by 9:30. They open up main street early in the morning, but @10 the rest of the park opens. Then go to: Thunder Mountain (or PoCarribean or another semi-popular ride, Space Mountain (because all of the people who arrive early rush to Space Mountain first, so the line is super long at 10:05 and shortens quickly), Matterhorn. NOTE: If you want to start w/ Space Mountain, run. Fast. -START WITH DLAND, THEN GO TO CA ADVENTURE CA adventure is more spread out, with fewer rides and more places to sit and watch. The food's better, and the environment is more relaxed. I suggest the Boudin Bread place. On that same vein, if you take a 1 minute tour of the Mission Tortilla "Factory" you get a fresh, freshly-made tortilla. -PACK LIGHT It's probably going to be warm but probably not really hot, so wear jeans and a short sleeved top. Don't bother with a jacket unless its like 65. Try to avoid bringing a purse, but that's not always an option for tourists.

@JIL: If you don't know, DON'T POST! You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Crowd wait times all depend on which day you go. Spring break is over by then, and there is generally a lull between spring break and summer crowds. Normally, I'd say the first weekend would be a good day to go (like May 7). HOWEVER, (and this is what separates me from dopes like JIL who don't know about Disneyland) May 7 is the day that "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides" premieres. AT DISNEYLAND. Main Street will be SUPER packed with people who want to see the celebs. Seriously, they are there at the park (which opens up early, around 6 AM) ALL DAY, just to see a celeb. Anyway, the park closes early that day, and the celebs come walking down the BLACK carpet (for Blackbeard, get it?) around closing time. Park crowds are higher than average. If you go May 8, Sunday, crowds should be very low. However, you won't be able to see Fantasmic until May 15. Line waits should be under 15 minutes or so.

Luckily, your going during what's known as off season. Kids are still in school and families don't have time for a trip to the park. The parks wont be too full, but a line wait might be an hour hour and a half. Your spending limit is up to you. There are lots of dining options to choose from. There's a Smart Phone app. that will tell you line wait, in real time. Don't forget to use fastpasses as often as you can.

hmmmm..... probably a long wait for rides..... here's why: (1) it's near to summer (2) it's the weekend (3) it should be very good weather It was crowded 2 weekends ago. Not VERY crowded, but crowded. admission for one single person, it's about $45. Ask about their special details. I would visit their website to check out special deals. You'll need at least 1 day to experience Disneyland main park, and 1 day to experience Disneyland "California Adventure" park, which is just a couple hundred feet away....... food is very expensive. For example: in a couple of places inside the park, Minnie Mouse regular-size cupcake is $4.00. also, drinks are very expensive...... i would just plan on drinking water. (i hope they don't charge for water.) you have options...... I would actually call Disneyland Resort and ask them all the questions you need to know. (Please see links below.) of course, you may have more qeustions..... but that is just a little bit of info for you. hope that helps :) Ohh............. and one more thing.......... in California Adventure section, there is a roller-coaster called "California Screamin'". It goes very fast with turns & up and down. Don't eat right-before-going-on. , if you know what i mean...... you don't want to get sick.... so, after you eat, wait at least 15 or 20 minutes before going on the ride.

Admission is not $45. Not even if you plan to rent, will they cost $45. They hiked up the prices to $65 now to rent a ticket (to not rent - it'll cost $101 - for a park hopper.) http://slo.craigslist.org/tix/2326201353.html Go on Monday. Saturday and Sunday are the MOST crowded.

Monday. There won't be as many people whereas if you go during the weekend... well the lines and wait would be much longer.
