How busy is Universal Studios in August?

How busy is Universal Studios Hollywood on a Saturday in May?

  • My husband and I are thinking of going to Universal Studios Hollywood May 15, With the price so high I'm a little concerned with going if it's too busy to really enjoy the park. I don't want to spend an entire day waiting in lines when we could be at Disneyland (which would be cheaper) or enjoying the beach.

  • Answer:

it's going to be PACKED! and Universal Studios is a tiny park when you compare it to other amusement parks like Disneyland and Magic Mountain, and in my opinion it's rather boring. I would suggest you go to Magic Mountain or Disneyland! good luck!

It is listed in the information please almanac as one of the top ten most visited amusement parks in the USA. It is during warm weather time. The only thing good going for you is that it is still during school time. Therefore families with children won't fly in from around the world until summer. This will be a busy day. I suggest you go early, and then spend the rest of the day at the Universal city walk, and visiting places like the third street promenade in Santa Monica, the Getty of some other museum.

did you know you can print your admission ticket at home you can also get front of the lines passes as well which will help so you wont be waiting in lines (and most lines go fast anyway) lots of times the Sunday times coupons supplement will have coupons for universal (you usally save $15.00) also if you are a member of the AAA again they have a discount for that too

a quick fyi - universal has really been advertising its deal where if you live here, you buy one day and get the rest of the year free. What this tends to do is make a lot more locals go to these parks on the weekends as after the first time its a free trip. All the amusement parks have been seriously hurt by the economy. have fun - in my humble opinion if you are going to spend the bucks for universal, I would spend the whole day there - go out and have dinner at the universal walk and go back for the evening.

May is a good time to visit theme parks. The weather is great, and it avoids the Summer crowds. But I strongly suggest you go on a weekday, not a weekend. It's simple math. Everyone gets off work on the weekends, and they head for the parks. Go there on a weekday, when everyone is at work, and you'll find a nice, uncrowded park where you can just walk onto most of the rides.

Busy. It's a spring weekend in SoCal, so all the parks will be busy. BTW, Disney is NOT cheaper. A single park is $72, park hopper is $97. Universal is $69. Others made some VERY good points. Why not just go before April 30? Then you could get the rest of the year for free. You could go back on May 15, June 15, or whatever days you want.
