What are the best fishing areas in Southern California?

I am looking at colleges in California. What are different areas in CA like?

  • I am looking for places near LA near the coast. I am not familiar with the environments in the different areas. Are there clear hippee areas, silicon valley areas, party areas, ethinc areas? Any experience would be great, as well as any specific info on the colleges. Thanks

    I live in the silicon valley (San Jose-San Francisco area– not LA). It's pretty nice here– great weather, lots of stuff to do since we are near the beach, mountains, and San Francisco (which is I guess a "hippie" area). But if you want to go to L.A. you could go to UCLA, USC (but that's like right in the middle of the ghetto), Loyola Marymount, maybe Pepperdine??? not sure about that one. L.A. is pretty diverse, any one of those colleges would allow you to experience the different sides to L.A. Or if you really want a coastal school, UC Santa Barbara would be great. It's beautiful and overlooks the ocean. Beware– California colleges can be REALLY competitive. Hope you have good grades!! ;-) Good luck!

Near the coast? Um... Pepperdine University in Malibu. Walking distance to the ocean! Beautiful campus (you'll be walking up and down a lot; it's built on a hill).

Hi, In the Los Angles Area there are Private and State Schools. The private schools would be USC, Peperdine in Malibu, Cal Lutheran, Cal Tech and others. The state system UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Long Beach, UC Fullerton, and UC Riverside.

Pepperdine, UCSB, even Santa Cruz, even though that is up more north.

One thing to consider is that as a non resident your tuition will be higher than California residents if you are thinking of schools in the University of California system. Illegal aliens get the "in state" rate, go figure.
