Where are some beautiful scenic places in southern california?

  • I just started getting into photography and I would like to know where some nice, scenic places are in southern california. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Little Corona del Mar beach, Crystal Cove State Beach, Terranea Resort (Palos Verdes),Point Fermin Park, Union Station, Paradise Cove, Venice Canals Walkway, Getty Museum in Malibu, the view on a clear day from the Griffith Observatory, Bunker Hill Steps, Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, Santa Barbara Mission, La Jolla, Huntington Gardens, The Santa Monica Pier at night, Mulholland Highway (not drive) has several scenic pull offs and Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. Since it hasn't rained here in months you might find some of the places that don't have sprinkler systems to be very dry looking right now.

Wow, there are hundreds of places to photograph in SoCal. As a photographer, you should know that. From the urban grittiness of downtown LA, to the rich and famous in Newport Beach, a good photog can capture a moment and preserve it, no matter the location. Pick any beach around sunset Try people watching at City Walk or Downtown Disney Listen to Luis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"

You might try looking at other people's photos on flickr for ideas and inspiration. You can search by using Los Angeles and then any other keyword of your choosing. I tried searching on just Los Angeles. With more than two million results you can see why you would need to add other search terms to narrow it down. General ones like beach, mountains, palm trees or more specific like downtown, getty, santa monica. http://www.flickr.com/search/?s=int&w=all&q=los+angeles+&m=text I've found some great stuff on flickr that sometimes makes me think I'll try some photography. So far I've been using the site to remind me of how beautiful Los Angeles is and to go out and see it. And if you see something you like but you're not quite sure where the photo was taken you can ask the photographer. It's been my experience that they'll be glad to tell you.

Huntington Beach is a pretty nice area for photos.

The border with Mexico should be interesting. I heard that Californians are heading South looking for work.
