How long will it take for my birth certificate to arrive?

Going to Disneyland for my birthday, but I can't take my real birth certificate and I'm under 18? HELP D:?

  • alright, i signed up to go to disneyland tomorrow for my birthday, and I'm under 18 so I dont have an ID with my birthday on it, and the email i got says "Proper valid identification would be a driver's license including a photo, state or government-issued photo ID or a government-issued passport. If you are under age 18 and don't have any of the above mentioned ID, an original or a certified copy of a birth certificate is required. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed government-issued photo IDs and will not be accepted." my parents wont let me take my actual birth certificate, so could i just make a photo copy? what is a certified birth certificate? help :[

Sheesh. Listen, people. Don't answer if you don't know. Stop blowing smoke out your **** like you know what you're talking about. Listen, Nii, you can take a photocopy, and they won't even blink twice. We took a little friend of my daughter's a couple weeks ago, and had NO problems showing up with a photocopied birth cert.

It says that you can take a certified copy of your birth certificate. Certified copy = notarized. Make a copy and go to a notary. They will have you swear that your certificate isn't a fake and then they will sign it. Quote from Wiki about notaries "Some states in the United States permit notaries public to certify copies; the laws or officials who regulate notaries should be consulted for details." Have fun at disneyland!

You can't just make a copy... a certified copy is something you request from the records office in the county where you were born. If you've got the time, you might want to do that. Otherwise, and I can't promise you this will work because I don't work for Disney, ask your parents to help you find a local notary. Sometimes copy and mail places have them on staff. Take your original birth certificate to the notary, make a photocopy with the notary present, and have the notary sign ("notarize") the copy. That doesn't give you a certified copy, but at least it's notarized and might... might work.

No. Since they require an original or certified copy those are your only options. You can't just make a copy. A certified copy is an official copy that typically has a government seal and says "certified". I don't know how your state does it, but in Michigan, many people without a driver's license get a state id card. They get it from a Secretary of State which is the same place that issues the driver's licenses. If your state has something similar, maybe you can go there as soon as they open in the morning and get one before your trip.

As usual, OM is right. You should be fine. When I went there on my BD, I got a second free pass for another day that I used to see California Adventure (which is a waste but that is another A for another day). It's fun -- they give you a big button and all day the Cast Members give you birthday greetings (even the ones in the parades). Have a great time!
