Where is a good place in Southern California to camp at?
-
Here's the concept: I've been wanting to go camping with my friends for a long time, but when we look for places, the places have really strict rules and you have to pay to camp there.Does anyone know a good place around southern California where 5 friends and I can camp at that doesn't cost money or have ridiculously strict rules? We just want to go camping with our own supplies and be able to make our own campfire without anyone getting on our case about it, because we don't intend to do any harm to anything. All we want is to have a good time doing some good old classic camping. Anyone know some good places??

Answer:
Check out serrano campground in big bear lake,CA. Up in mountains, lots of trees, opposite side of lake from town, campfires allowed, right next to lake, clean bathrooms and benches, tons of trees haha, trails, fishing, really nice campsite, and cheap.

Check, please! As in "reality check". It's time that you learn that nothing is free. You should also know by now that rules are there for the protection of the environment and the enjoyment of all. I've seen the results of what happens when people camp without "ridiculously strict rules": The environment gets TRASHED, people have no consideration for others, and it ruins it for everyone. What "ridiculously strict rules" are you talking about? Like "don't burn down the forest"? Or "please be quiet at a reasonable hour so people can get some sleep? Some day I hope you'll learn that it's not all about you. As for free places to camp, there are none. There are designated camping areas so that people can enjoy the outdoors without ruining the forest, beach, or river environment. Showers, campsites, and fire rings are provided, as well as a staff to make sure everyone is behaving and not trashing the place. And of course, all of that costs money. Serrano is a nice campground, but it's not free. Cost is $26-$52 per night. In case you're interested in the beach, Carpinteria State Beach is a great beach to camp at. Prices are about the same as Serrano. You can find them both at reserveamerica.com. Happy camping!
