Is Big Sur Walkable?

Good place to stay overnight between Big Sur and LA?

  • We're traveling from San Francisco to LA over the course of a few days in late August, mostly on Hwy 1. We're staying in Big Sur overnight. Is there a recommended overnight stopping point in between Big Sur and LA?

  • Answer:

Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo.

You may also throw Ventura into that mix as it maybe a little less expensive than Santa Barbara. Once you find a location look up the reviews for them over on www.tripadvisor.com and www.yelp.com see what others are saying about it. In this economy I believe in knowing EXACTLY how well my money is spent. ;^) If you choose San Luis Obispo you will still have a 4 hour drive to LA from there and Santa Barbara is 2 hours from Los Angeles so it depends on how tired you are going to be but I would stay in like Ventura or Santa Barbara that way you are not that far from your destination. I frequent Cambria (1/2 hour outside of San Luis Obispo) all the time. Respectfully Submitted Psboston7 Director of Catering and Sales

San Luis Obispo: I like the Quality Suites on Monterey Ave. Pismo Beach: Oxford Suites on Five Cities Drive Santa Barbara: Doubletree Inn on Cabrillo Drive, right by the beach.
