Answer:
Philippe's in LA, they have famous roast beef, pickled eggs, and delicious food for really cheap, like seriously...coffee is NINE CENTS. IN N' OUT Burgers: They have these EVERYWHERE. There's one in Anaheim Hills on E La Palma Avenue. It's supposedly the healthiest burgers, and you can see that it's fresh made--there are literally employees cutting up potatoes for fries right in front of you. It's an interesting experience, too. It's realy tasty, and for really nice prices. They only have In N' Out in California, and a few in Arizona and Nevada. Krispy Kreme Donuts: It's not very healthy if you eat it every day, but it's DELICIOUS. I'm not sure if they have Krispy Kreme's in other states, but it's most definitely the BEST donut EVER. Get the original glazed. Kids love it, and so do parents. You can take them to go, too, and leave them out of the refrigerator. The next morning, if you refrigerate it for 8 seconds or so, it's as good as new, maybe even better! Beaches: Newport Beach. This is the best beach in California, in my opinion. It's extremely long, and there are places to fish, playgrounds, bike rentals so you can ride a bicycle through the open neighborhoods that have perfect views of the beach. There are nice Japanese food places and seafood places scattered all around the area, as well as tiny cafes where you can stop for hot cocoa or coffee to warm you up. Dress warm if you go in the mornings or nighttime! Tourist Attractions: Universal Studios. It's like Disneyland, but for adults. I recommend the tour of the sets where they shoot movies; it shows you new rides, and it really throws you into the world of movie-making. South Coast Plaza: It's in Costa Mesa, and there are lots of designer stores as well as FANTASTIC restaurants. I recommend Vie de France (French/American food), Lawry's (roast beef, turkey...), and Quattro Cafe (Italian food). The Block: It's a shopping center that's outdoors. There's an AMC movie theater, and a long strip of shops, Off 5th (sales on Saks', which is a designer department store), and restaurants. The Block also has some artists perform there at times, or hold events. There's also a Krispy Kreme Donuts right in the middle of the parking lot, too. The Brea Mall is very nice, too. I live EXTREMELY close to it. ;) It's not a tourist MUST HAVE, though. Also, Desert Hills Premium Outlet in Palms Springs. It's really hot there year-round, but it's has really nice sales. Theaters/Comedy Clubs: Visit Hollywood when your at Universal, and look around LA when you're in Philippe's. There are PLENTY of night clubs and comedy clubs when you're there. So I recommend you do this: Go to Philippe's when touring LA and look for good night clubs and comedy clubs. Go to Universal Studios when you're touring Hollywood and do the same. Shop at your own pace! ' Good luck! ;) Have fun! California's wonderful...good weather year-round! I LOVE CALIFORNIA!

I love walking around Laguna Beach and grabbing lunch by the water. If you are heading south towards San Diego, La Jolla is beautiful too. If you decide to head up to LA, this guide may help you out- it covers lots of the categories you are asking about (Restaurants, Sights (including Beaches), Nightlife, etc)- the Malibu and Santa Monica areas (that others have suggested to you) are in the guide too so hope it helps.
