I would like to spend 2 full days in Hollywood, but hotels/motels on Hotwire are expensive. Any ideas?
-
Do you know of any places that might be cheaper but still in Hollywood? Or, are there other parts of the city that are cheaper but still easy to get to using public transportation?
-
Answer:
Nothing about public transportation here is easy. Why do you want to stay in Hollywood? Is there something there you need to be close to? What is your price range? What may be expensive to you may not be to someone else.

Motel 6 is likely the cheapest motel you're going to find in Hollywood that isn't kinda scary. It's just north of Hollywood Bl on Whitley, and in between two Metro Red Line subway stations, Hollywood/Highland and Hollywood/Vine about 4 blocks to either. There are lots of bus stops on Hollywood Bl. The rate depends on time of the year, but right now it's likely about $75 a night including 14% tax. Motel 6 http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=4044 If you're going to be doing Hollywood touristy stuff, it's best to stay close by, as our public transportation generally isn't great. The Metro subway/light rail are good, but they aren't all over the city. On the Red Line you can easily go to Universal City/City Walk, and to downtown places like Olvera St, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Disney Concert Hall, MOCA, and also transfer to the Gold Line light rail and go into Pasadena for Norton Simon Museum, Old Town, Pacific Asia Museum, etc. Have a good trip!
