Where could we live in California?
-
Two of my friends and I are all currently sophomores in college. We all live in central New Jersey and have lived here all our lives, so we're used to the suburb life. After we graduate from college, we were thinking we want to move to California and get an apartment and get jobs there, preferably in the Los Angeles area. We've all talked about this several times, but now I want other opinions. What are the best areas in California to live in for 3 males just getting out of college? I was thinking maybe Venice Beach, but other opinions, possibly by people who live in Cali.

Wow. You really fit the profile. You know that sophomore actually translates to "educated fool", right? You ask a question with NO answer, then b*tch when we cannot tell you what you want to hear. OK, smarty pants, have you priced places in Venice? Thinking of hanging out at the beach in a 3 BR pad? Got $3000 per month? Then go for it. You're going to need to each make at least $40,000 to be able to afford that. Other places include West Hollywood (especially if you and your buds are gay), Santa Monica, Any of the beach cities in South Bay, or down in the OC. Personally, I think that's your best option. There's a cool place down there you already seem to be familiar with: It's called Fantasyland.

The likelihood of a being able to live in Venice on a recent grad salary is about zero. Even less likely for a landlord to rent to this group of people. If you want beach living your options are probably Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Long Beach, or Huntington Beach and even then you are probably not going to have the place that you imagine = more like 1950s hole in the wall.

Trust me. You won't be living in Venice straight out of college. Too expensive. And as for jobs? Don't expect to get one immediately. Were the 2nd highest unemployed state in the USA. ---------------------------- That wasn't advice. That was an answer. Nowhere in the LA area are you going to get a solid job quickly and living in a solid area like Venice. Careers aren't stable at all, and minimum waged jobs are even worse. Oh, and another thing. Don't expect to live in Los Angeles on minimum wage, let alone Venice.
Beverly Hills holds the distinction of being one of the most well-known areas of California. It is near Los Angeles as well as Santa Monica. Many consider Beverly Hills to be among the most desirable location in the world. It is home to some of the most wealthy and prestigious people in the world. The school system in Beverly Hills is one of the best in the nation. With weather that is near perfect year-round and nearly every square inch of the city is well manicured. There are many places of interest in Beverly Hills. Including restaurants, parks, famous boutiques, Art Galleries and museums. The crime rate in Beverly Hills is extremely low making it a safe place to live and secure as you would expect from any affluent city. It has the unique distinction of being a sunny little town enhanced by the safety, security and attention to detail made possible by its wealthy residents plus the fact that is very near to Los Angeles and all it has to offer.

All right then. I would suggest Orange County. It's a very nice area. You can try Fullerton, Seal Beach, Irvine, or Huntington Beach. If you want to live in a beach community, then try Newport Beach or Laguna Beach. As for apartments, you may find the link below useful. http://www.ocregister.com/sections/realestate/rentals/ Hope that helps.

....is there some particular reason you want to move to the state with the highest property taxes and least amount of personal freedom in the country? Not to mention the fact that it at some point each year suffers pretty much every natural disaster imaginable short of a volcanic eruption.
