Best way to have fun in Los Angeles?

Moving to Los Angeles, California?

  • How realistic is this: I want to study in the medical field, and will be attending to UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio). After I become a family physician, who knows when that'll be, I want to move to Los Angeles. ( It will probably be about how many years to get the license, 10?)...Anyways. Would it be realistic....And by the way. Whats there to do in California. I mean, hows the work, pay, fun, exciting things to do? Thanks for your information.

  • Answer:

Hello. Congrats on your acceptance to UTSA. I dont live in LA - I live in DC right now, but I love LA and hope to move there. Its an exciting town - I've visited several times and love the culture/society out there. Its extremely fast pace and the weather is perfect for me. I would suggest trying to find an internship during one of your summer breaks out in Los Angeles. Im sure you'll need to do a semester of learning or so as part of your med program, so I suggest doing it in Los Angeles and seeing how you like it. I wish you the world!

LA is like every city it has it luxury parts and it also has it's little unwanted places. You should move to Beverly Hills;however, LA has glamarous places too. Like San Pedro.

L.A is very over-rated. The traffic, illegal immigration, housing costs are only getting worse. Ask this question closer to your move date for a more accurate answer. Good Luck and Congratulations.

LA is really bad!!!!! I don't know why people think it is a good place??? The smog is sooooooooooo BAD that when I was going to school there was days that we couldn't go outside because the smog was soooo bad!!!! REALLY!! The traffic is nasty!!!! It will take you 3 hours to go 65 miles on the freeway. I have done it on my way home from work!!!! The housing is very high!!! My grandma sold a house in Riverside for 375,000.00 it was 1/4 acre, 3 bedr, 1 bath, no garge, old built befor WWII. Just houseing is VERY high!!!!!! Over crowed!!!!! The schools there are bad!!! If you plan to have kids it is a bad place for them to go to school!!!! Look into some where else!!! Lived there 30 yrs & glad to be out!!!!!

Congrats on becoming a doctor. I've heard we need more of those. There is much to do in L.A. You won't be bored. You can drive to the beaches one day and then turn around the other direction and go skiing at Big Bear the next day if it's winter. We have many venues for concerts, theater, and of course, film and I'm not talking about the blockbusters that are repetative---I'm talking quirky, good films that are off the beaten path. Plus, every once in a while we have a major brush fire, a car chase, or an earthquake. There is always lots to do and see. Buy an L.A. Times at a newsstand one Sunday to give you a good idea. Sure, you could bring your parents with you. I think the fast pace and traffic here is harder for older adults to cope with, but I guess that depends on their personalities.

California is great if you are single, young, and into parting. However, the schools, are not the best except the universities. It is over populated, crowded, and has horrible traffic. I know very few people who love it, and of the ones I do, they don't live here full time. The work for Dr. will be good and so will the pay, howeverr, the living cost is expencive. If you want to move your parents here it might not be the greatest idea. I would look into somewhere like CO, its great there.
