How rich do you have to be to live in California?

  • California is where famous celebrities live and where they film most movies and TV shows. I wish that I lived in California so that I could hang out with the famous people there. A lot of people say California isn't rich but I don't believe that because why would celebrities live there then? And I hurd that everything in california is expensive so I don't think that poor or middle class people would live there then. I can picture nice places like Beverly Hills and Los Angeles with pretty blonde girls and cute guys driving nice cars and eating out at nice restaurants. I wish I could live like that and also have a big mansion. Anyway, how much money would I need to save up so that I can move to California? And how much do houses cost over there? And what is the best city in California to go to and try to audition to be an actress. I am 20 years old and I am tired of working as a cook and driving a crappy old car that I have to push start sometimes. I want to be famous and I can't do that living in a crappy city like this. I need to move to California so I can become successful.

    So, are you 15 or are you 20? Make up your mind! Really? I hang out with famous people?? Although, my old business teacher was in Teen Wolf, I didn't think he was famous. Wow! I didn't know that I was rich! I thought only the rich and famous drove Jeep Liberty's and live in mediocre homes! My girl isn't blonde but we do eat out at nice restaurants. In-N-Out through the drive-thru does both of us fine since we don't have time to hang out at a restaurant. Now back to being serious: You seriously need to wake up and stop dreaming. Come visit Los Angeles for one day and you'll see that your little fantasy world is what it is: A Fantasy World! I wish The Hills can show Lauren in an average LA city. And you're right. Everything in California is expensive and that's probably why the majority are middle class and below. And, no, not everybody lives in a mansion. If you look carefully, next time you visit Los Angeles, you will see that the average size house is about 1,000 sq. ft. and the average date these houses are built are around the 1940s- late 1950s. If California didn't have poor people, we wouldn't have minimum waged restaurants. And to be successful, you should've had acting experience as a child and even then, your chances are low. If it was that easy to be an actor/actress, I would already be one by now. By the way, many famous celebrities live on other places like in Nevada, Idaho, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, New York, Illinois, London, Tokyo, etc. They live everywhere! And even if you lived in the hills with the celebrities, there's NO CHANCE that you'll even get to say, "Hi." to them. They value their privacy and will go through so much security to do so.

Stop watching those stupid (MTV) television programs. You do NOT have to be "rich" to live in California, but it helps. Most of California's population is plain, old working people just like where you live. It's true that for a number of reasons the cost of living here is high, and most families struggle to survive. Actually roughly 50% of the movies and television programs are made in other states where the taxes, and other restrictions are less costly. Check the ending credits of most of your favorite T.V. programs, and you probably see that it was made in Vancouver, Canada. Celebrities aren't going to "hangout" with you. Most of them protect their privacy, and are seldom seen in public. When they do go out the proper etiquette is to leave them alone. Most would be polite, but a few get quite rude toward strangers that approach them. Totally forget about coming here to become an actress. NOT going to happen. There are already (LITERALLY) a million wanna be actresses here, and more get off the bus daily. You would just be one more face in the crowd. Without some real acting experience you wouldn't even get past the door. By the way, most actresses started out acting in their home towns. House prices vary with the community. Where I live a modest two Bedroom starts in the $450,000 and goes up from there. Multimillion dollar homes are quite common, but with California's recent housing problems many foreclosed homes go for bargain prices. Be happy that you have a job. A Cook is an honorable profession, and you deserve all you earn. Enjoy the place you live at. Lots of people come to California and eventually move back to where they came from. I'm sure that there are people that would love to live where you are. Living in California is NOT like you see portrayed on television.

You understand that California is a HUGE state, right? Living out in Inyokern is less that $100/sqft ON ACERAGE. A nice home in Malibu could be $3000/sqft. If you want to be an actress, then you need to live around the Hollywood area or be willing to commute in traffic. No, it's not all rich people and mansions. Ever hear of Compton? I really think that you need to go with your parents out the LA and see what it's actually like. If you move out there as naive as you are, it's going to eat you alive.
