Where is Ha Long located?

Can anyone tell me the where the nicer neighborhoods in Long Beach are located?

  • Is Downtown Long Beach good? What about North Long Beach? I have no clue, so I really need your help! Please no comedy......

  • Answer:

The nicest neighborhoods in Long Beach are near the CSU campus and along the shoreline. Downtown, like on Pine Ave., is okay, but I wouldn't go 2 or more blocks over from that. North Long Beach has a reputation of being very rough and I wouldn't recommend it.

Come on, you really can't figure it out? I bet you have already, and just want someone to corroborate: We see this over and over in this forum: Everyone hears about the great weather in SoCal or believes they are the next great actor/model/singer, then starts looking for the "cheap, clean, and safe". It's all about supply and demand: If it's in SoCal, then it's not going to be cheap to begin with. If it's clean and safe, then it's more expensive. If you want to live here and enjoy the weather, then you have to pay for it. You put up with the smog and the traffic, enjoy the weather and pay your rent or mortgage. Conversely, if an area seems unusually cheap, you can bet there is crime (usually gangs) involved. In the case of north LB, that's why it's cheaper. No comedy here. It's nothing to laugh about.

Belmont Shore, Belmont Heights, Bluff Park, Bixby Knolls, the Peninsula and Carroll Park. You can throw in Naples and Signal Hill too, although they aren't technically part of LB. Living close to the beach is your best bet. Anything between Ocean and 4th is good and the farther from downtown the better since there are lots of homeless and pan-handlers down there. **Do not move here unless you already have a job or a trust fund. California is expensive and will take your money fast.
