Hollywood bowl Super seats?

Help with best seats at Hollywood Bowl?

  • I want to purchase tickets to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl as a grad gift for my cousin - (I am on the east coast and have never been there) The concert is a "paperless ticket" concert for the best seats, which include the pool circle, garden, Super seats and terrace seats and you are required to show up in person, with the credit card that was used to purchase the tickets - not an option for me. I have seen the diagram - please answer only if you have been to the Hollywood Bowl and can speak from experience: Which would be the BEST tickets: Front Row center aisle in section E - row 6 in section D, or section F1 - row 8. Thanks very much for the help, I really want to get her the best seats possible.

  • Answer:

The sound tends to be better center and back a bit (from my experience), and a potential problem with the D and E sections is that the view can be sometimes partially obstructed due to the speakers, the side angle view of the stage, and the screen next to the Bowl stage may be obstructed. Look at the seating chart camera shot from there, and you'll see you can't see the screen on the same side from D and E. Did it mention partially obstructed view from D and E? Sometimes it will state that when you purchase tickets. Do you know the number of the seat in section D and E, are the seats at the end of the section toward the center of the Bowl (better, low numbers), rather than toward the outside of the section? That can make a difference from what I saw when I went to check out seats one afternoon. I'm guessing this is why D and E tickets cost less than it seems they should, at least for the concerts I've priced them at. Seating Chart with Camera View: http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/tickets/seating-chart.cfm It's hard to say exactly because each concert has different set ups. Like at the Paul McCartney concert there were spotlights in front of the super seats, which while they didn't block the view, they would have annoyed me being in my field of view, so I was very happy I was only able to get the bench seats right next to the super seats, J2. At the James Taylor/Carole King concert the set up was different. (Our subscription tix are up front / center and I actually think the sound is better further back and it also depends on the type of music.) Sooo, if the D and E seats are low seat numbers, near the inside aisle (is that what you mean by E center aisle?), those would be good if you think your cousin would like to be up close as possible, F1 is good too, similar to where I sat for Paul McCartney (J2). Good luck!

Yes, I've been to the Hollywood Bowl many times. I know someone at work who had Section D with seats on the aisle. It was VERY convenient in many ways. Even though this was years ago and things may have changed since then, but you wouldn't have to walk as far, there was a food stand, a great view of the stage and the bathrooms close to Section D. I think that maybe the best. Just my opinion though.

If it was my money, I'd call the Hollywood Bowl to see about the Pool Circle seats. Arrangements can be made to pick up your ticket at Will Call if it's a gift, or to have it sent to you. Of the three choices you gave, I'd take section F1. Better sound.
