How can normal middle class people get into those celebrity hotspot clubs and restaurants?

A nice "gratuity" to the "right" person helps. Cash in the hands of the Doorman or Maitre'd can get you a long way. Also (and not meaning to sound sexist) being a hot, young, thin, female always opens doors.

You have to know someone, be rich, or look good. Resturants pretty much let anyone in.

Restaurants---Just call and make a reservation several weeks in advance. Spago and others have an on-line reservation system which is handy...Coincidentally, I just made an on line reservation there a few days ago.. Clubs--Go at 8:00pm or if they will take them, call make reservations not on Friday or Saturday, or tip the door guy good. There are literally hundreds of nice clubs in the area (and dozens of NAME clubs) so it should not be as hard as you think. Friday and Saturday they are full of tourists so consider going during the week. Have Fun.....

Make reservations at the restaurant in advance, as in now. They will probably tell you that you can only eat at 5:30pm or 11pm. If you can't get in for dinner try making lunch reservations during the week. You can find their phone numbers online. If you reserve a table with bottle service you can get into the clubs. It will cost a few hundred though. You should also be dresed very nice. Shop at Kitson or Fred Segal do get some LA outfits. Beyond that, don't look like a goofy star-struck tourist. Act like you've been there before. The celebs go to the VIP lounges in those clubs to stay away from fans. Summer is not the best time to find celebs. It gets hot in LA so they go visit their other homes.
