What is the French Hollywood?

What are the differences in the sections of Hollywood i.e. North Hollywood, West Hollywood?

  • I'm just curious. And what is the best place to live in Los Angeles primarliy Hollywood area? What are good neighborhoods with big houses?

    Hollywood is very mixed, from grungy neighborhoods in the flats (but the houses still cost a lot) to mansions that cost millions in the hills. West Hollywood is similar, maybe a little more upscale over all, but it has it's grungy areas too. Lovely houses in the hills above Sunset. North Hollywood is different, it's the valley. There are bad neighborhoods and good neighborhoods, but not nearly the number of upscale homes you find in Hollywood and West Hollywood. Big houses are up in the hills of Hollywood and West Hollywood, staring at about a million for a nice small home in a decent neighborhoods, and going much much higher. Go to West Hollywood if you're gay. East Hollywood if you're broke and Hollywood Hollywood if you want to party or sight see. North Hollywood is in the Valley, it's not part of Hollywood.

OK, to clarify: Hollywood is part of the city of LA. It's generally pretty grungy. West Hollywood is an independent city to the west of Hollywood. It's nicer, but you won't find any big houses for under a million bucks. North Hollywood is actually not connected to Hollywood at all. It's over the hill in the San Fernando Valley, yet still part of the city of LA. It has some really artsy sections, and some really ghetto areas. Not many large houses here, either. If you want nicer areas with big houses, check down in the OC. Most of LA is smaller homes. If it's a big home, it's a huge price tag. Check out lalife.com for starters.

I was just in Hollywood. Pretty much all of it is ghetto except West Hollywood. I mean even there it wasnt reallynice though. Thats were like the yong famous people live that arent that big and famous. There are no big houses in Hollywood though. The really pretty amazing place is Beverley Hills! Thats were the famous people live and the houses there are absoultley gorgoues and its very upscale and pretty. Thats were all the famous people go walking and stuff. Really big stars like Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, people like that live in like Santa Monica(very up scale) and Malibu!

Most of the real work in Hollywood is done in Burbank. That area has big houses. Do note a big hous ein LA will run about $500,000. North Hollywood is a little run down and West Hollywood is the center of the LA gay community. Hollywood itself is a dump.
