What is life like at UCSD?

Hi! English summer course at UCLA, UCSD, SDSU? Social life?

• Hi! I'm an italian girl, I graduate in March and I would like to spend 4 months in the Usa in order to improve my english! I found some intresting english courses with the American Language institute and the English Language institute located in some Universities in California, but I can't decide where to go! Can any students from UCLA, UCSD or SDSU tell me something about campus and social life there? How's life in LA, la Jolla and San Diego? I come in the USA to study of course but I would also like to party in the weekend and travel around... wich university would you reccomand me? Is LA really auch a dangerous city as is said? Thank you! :)

  Do you mean the UCLA Extension / American Language Center? UCLA is in a very nice area of LA, if you stay around the nice areas, are aware of your environment, and don't do dumb stuff like walk around at night, you should be fine. The thing about these English programs is usually you are with other international students like yourself, unless you also take some other classes on campus, which some programs allow you to do. So if you want to meet typical UCLA students to hang out with, you'll have to make an effort. It wouldn't be that difficult if you're typically social. There is plenty to do around the Westside of LA near UCLA, and lots to do in LA in general. San Diego is very nice, but LA might be a better option, much more to do. You can always drive or take the Amtrak train down to visit San Diego from LA. You can also take the Amtrak train up to visit Santa Barbara. Have fun!
