Where is a good place to camp in southern california?

  • Not like a RV park or stuff. Like out in the woods and pitching up a tent and stuff. Do you guys know any good places like that for a family of 3 people to go camping? Preferably by a lake :P

    Maybe big bear is a good place, there is a lake there, or the Antelope Valley, there is also a lake there. The best place would be the Angeles National Forest, but there is no lake there at all.

Since SoCal is a desert, you just don't have a lot of woods, nor do you have many lakes. If you want to pitch a tent in the woods, it has to be in a permitted site.
