Answer:
I recently went to a wedding at the LA River Center and Gardens. Sounds like kind of a weird place to get married, but it was GORGEOUS. Spanish style buildings, lots of flowers, a huge fountain in the courtyard! http://www.lamountains.com/planning_river.asp

Feb 9, 2009, right? Not tomorrow, right? Otherwise, I would say that your choices are limited to the drive-through window at the Quickie Wedding Chapel. Feb 9 is a tricky date. You never know if it's going to rain or not. -How about Descanso Gardens? It's beautiful there. -Occiental College, the Hillside Ampitheater (or the patio in the student center overlooking the fountain, in case of rain) -Japanese Garden at Long Beach State, a popular choice -Right on the beach at Laguna -Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara -Private Party room at Naples, Downtown Disney. Good luck!

I got married at the Marvimon, which is a loft downtown. If you're having a small wedding, check it out: www.marvimon.com. Also, check out www.projectwedding.com. It's a local wedding website. And then there's Here Comes the Guide, Southern California. Buy the magazine at a bookstore. They have tons of sites as well as prices.

Well, I got married in the church across the street, but then we walked across for the BEST reception, and you could do both wedding and reception here: Pasadena City Hall courtyard. City Hall has just been remodeled/restored. It is absolutely beautiful -- the architecture is great, it has a gorgeous fountain in the middle, and the neighborhood is wonderful. It did not cost us much at all, like just $135 to cover the cost of the permit/insurance, and then our other expenses for food, tables, cake, photog, music, etc. but basically NO venue cost! It was an event to remember! PS, I hope it's not tomorrow... their website asks for six weeks' advance notice to get the permit. And Ihave given you a link to a photo of City Hall that will make your mouth water!

Hmmm...well, getting married in Southern California is really never inexpensive unless you're willing to do the backyard wedding thing, esp an evening wedding on a Saturday in a cool/stylish venue which is what you want. That being said, I have no idea what "expensive" is to you. For some, spending $15k on a wedding/reception is outrageous, and for others, they can't imagine spending anything less than $60k. In SoCal, with your requirements, you would be hard pressed to find anything under $30k. Of course, there are many factors that will impact that price greatly: # of guests being THE biggest factor Type of food Bar options Music Etc. We were married at a wonderful place called The Madison in Long Beach on Pine Avenue. We had the wedding and reception there. The venue itself is a 100 year old bank that has been converted into a restaurant. We had the time of our lives and our guests did as well. Our wedding was back in Oct 2005 and from what I've heard, they've significantly increased the price of "buying out" the restaurant for the night. http://www.themadisonrestaurant.com/client/themadison/index.html
