What's the best way to go to Yellowstone from Las Vegas? Also any good place to stay at YS? TIA.?

Hi. We are a group of 6 travelers from Singapore. We are planning to go to LA and from there to stay one night at Las Vegas before heading to Grand Canyon for another night. We are thinking of visiting the famous Yellowstone also but we are not very sure what's the best way to go. We don't mind taking a flight from LV if it is not very expensive and we won't miss the nice scenery if we take land transport. Thank you in advance.

Answer:
You won't want to drive from LV to Yellowstone. It will take longer than 2 days because of all of the National Parks in Southern Utah to see, like Zion, Bryce, and Cedar Breaks. While Yellowstone is worth the effort to see I'd fly up to SLC or one of the smaller airports closer, then rent a car. If you drive I would recommend taking Interstate 15 to Idaho Falls, US Hwy 26 to Jackson, and US Hwy 89 up into Yellowstone through Grand Teton National Park

Las Vegas to Salt Lake City is 430 miles. Yellowstone is another 300 from Salt Lake. It would be a miserable day of driving through less than desireable desert. I've driven it many times. BORING!!! If you fly from Vegas to Idaho Falls - it's a 90 mile drive to Yellowstone. And the last 25 are decent the rest is pretty open and baren. Jackson Hole Wyoming to Yellowstone is about half the distance 40-50 miles. Jackson Hole is a spendy place. Idaho Falls not so much. But the real cost is in the flight. I can definitely say Visit Yellowstone. It's beautiful and amazing country. If you go to the Grand Canyon then back to Vegas you'll waste a day and not see much. Yes the Grand Canyon is worth seeing. But Yellowstone is much better. Plus the temperatures are so much more moderate in the summer months. I'd see the Grand Canyon in the Fall. Yellowstone is snowed in for about 6-7 months a year. July to Sept are the months to visit. It really depends on how much time you have.

Hi! You would probably want to fly into Salt Lake City (rent a car then 5 hour drive) or Jackson (again rent a car). Jackson would allow you to drive through the Grand Tetons on your way up to Yellowstone. GORGEOUS scenery! Be sure to make your hotel reservations way in advance before going. Usually 6 months should do it. A year would be better and allow for more choices. You could rent a car in Las Vegas but the drive will take you two days through Utah mostly.

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home. Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.

All I can say is 1 night in LV is not enough. 1st of all, you will still be catching up with sleep due to jet lag. The minimum is 3 nights in Las Vegas.

I would skip Vegas totally! Grand Canyon & Yellowstone are worth seeing but Vegas is just a HUGE tourist Trap!!!
