Do you like the people in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas isnt really that populated, doesnt it seem like it is more than 500,000 people?

  • i just think its weird, idk living in Fresno, ca, we have about the same population, even though we arent famous for gambling and entertainment, i thought Vegas would have more people living there

  • Answer:

Hmmmmmm.... the valley here just passed the 2 million people mark. So I guess it would seem like more than 500k. Thing to know that it is Clarke County that is considered Vegas not the City of Las Vegas. The strip isn't in the City of Las Vegas only downtown. So I guess it's how you look at the figures.

although the real estate market has decreased significantly in the area over the last couple years, at it's peak, i was told that Vegas had an influx of 7,000 new residents a week. I was told that by the DMV worker who gave me my Nevada license when i moved here in '05. I just did some research for a graduate class i'm taking, and the figures i found were just over 2 million residents, as the above poster stated. These figures are only for the folks who bother to change their residency status via obtaining a new license, buying a home, etc., so I think the actual figures are apt to be much higher.

i lived in vegas for 3 years and it does seem like more the 500k there. It grows so fast i mean new areas pop up virtually overnite and communities and such are built extrememly fast and they have no problem finding ppl to live there. Take the highway for example, the spaghetti bowl as it's called, it was made wider to accomodate the rising population projected through 2010. Well i can say for sure, it was still the most crowded highway daily i had ever been on. 500k?..Idk...maybe in neighboring Henderson NV.

You want to look at Clark County vs. the CITY of Las Vegas. The City of Las Vegas only has 500,000 permanent residents within it's borders. However Clark County has over 2,000,000 permanent residents! Cheers!

Las Vegas City and Fresno city are about the same pop. Clark County is 2 million, while metropolitan Fresno is 1 million. ------------- The strip is outside of the city limits of Las Vegas. There are several hundred thousand people who live in the vicinity of the strip. ------------- Clark county is growing much faster than any other metropolitan area in Canada, USA, or Mexico. Most of the growth is from latinos moving into the city.In the year 1990, the pop was 0.74 million. ------------- The Las Vegas area has never been known for its size, only for the number of people who visit every year. There are about 40 million per year (the same as New York City). But Las Vegas has almost twice as many hotel rooms as New York city. So while to visit NYC you frequently have to shell out $300 per night for an average hotel room, you can either get a luxury suite in Vegas midweek or you can find a room for $30 or $40.

Not really. Except for the Las Vegas Strip, it's the middle of nowhere.
