What are the best hotels in Las Vegas?

What are some of the best hotels that are NEAR the Las Vegas Strip?

  • Hi everyone! For my twenty first birthday in February I'm going to Las Vegas with my boyfriend, and I'm looking for an affordable--preferably near or under 80 dollars a night--hotel to stay at. Some of the strip hotels that are further North like the Sahara and the Stratosphere are priced at around 70 dollars a night, but I was hoping for something a little closer to the center of the strip, even if it's to the east or west of the strip, but still within walking distance. I have no idea if what I'm asking for is feasible, but that's why I'm posting on here so that hopefully some locals can give some good advice or suggestions. I think I heard that sometimes there are hotels BEHIND the strip hotels, like the Towers or something? If anyone knows of one that they think would be affordable, that would be my ideal. Like I said, I'm not that familiar with Vegas--I've only been once before--so I'm coming at this question from a complete outsider perspective. So basically, I'm looking for something that's nice and near the center of the strip and in walking distance, and, if possible, near or under 80 dollars a night. Thank you to anyone that can help, you are so awesome!

I recommend the Flamingo. The Flamingo is in the middle of the strip. We stayed at the Flamingo from 8/29/10 - 9/1/10. The room was $50.00 a night. Every one who works at the Flamingo was very nice, friendly and helpful.

never stay at the Circus Circus. Their beds feel like your sleeping on bricks, avoid at all costs

yes the trump towers are off the strip. part of the flamingo is off the strip as well. ive been inside a room in the flamingo and it was amazing. i think it was a suite cuz the first door you opened lead to two doors/rooms...but im sure there all great. (that one had a jacuzzi/tub etc)

Flamingo is what you want then. If youre talking THE BEST hotel in Vegas, well that is Mandalay Bay (THEhotel). However, its not 80 bucks a night. LOL

I was going to suggest the ones Bob suggested (Ballys, Flamingos, and Monte Carlo) as well as Excalibur and mayabe the Rennaisance (off strip a bit). These usually have better deals for their locations. I would also try to look at other days of the week if price is a big concern. Traveling from Sunday-Wednesday, you can get rooms at even the Luxor for less than that. Look at the pricing calendars or go to www.lasvegas.com for pretty good deals. Have fun!

Stratosphere is just a short walk to Strip/Sahara Hotel. There are no hotels to the east but to the west but a longer walking distance is Rio/all-suites, Orleans/local, Palms. You might get that price at Orleans. Otherwise check out Circus Circus or Riveria or Excalibur

I'm assuming from the prices you're listing that you're looking at a weekend stay, which is why mid-range hotels like Flamingo, Bally's, Harrah's or the Luxor don't meet your $70/night budget. If you can switch to mid-week, you open up a lot more options. If not, you've pretty much listed what's available: the north end of the strip. The only hotel off-strip that is a short walk to the strip would be Hooters on Tropicana, which use to advertise itself as being closer to the MGM Grand than the MGM Grand Parking Lot. It's also just a walk across Tropicana to get to the Monorail Station. It's not the center of the strip, but the monorail can whisk you there for less than a cab fare. There's also the Super 8 at Koval/Flamingo which is attached to the Ellis Island Casino. It's two blocks east of the strip, but only one block east of the rear entrance to Bally's and the Monorail Station. I wouldn't say it's a dangerous part of town, but it's not a walk I'd want to make alone at night. However, once you make it to the Strip, you're right in the middle of it. Finally, there's a Motel 6 and an America's Best Value Inn a little further east of Hooters that will probably fit your budget.
