What to do for 4th of july?

What is Vegas Like for the 4th of July?

  • I have tons of vacation time built up, have not left town in 2 years, so I really want/need to go somewhere and have a time share to use somewhere. This is my first vacation solo and single, recently divorced after 9 years. I was thinking about going to Vegas for the 4th of July. I have been to Vegas before always with my wife and usually for a day or two, see a couple shows, gamble a lil bit and ride some rides. I would like to know what Vegas is like for the 4th of July weekend. I know its going to be really hot, just want to see if its worth putting up with the extra heat for. Do the Casinos do fireworks? Anything extra special going on? Reasons to go? Not to go? To go somewhere else? I am not dead set on the 4th or Vegas, just thought it sounded like fun cause it would be for my birthday as well.

  • Answer:

I was in Vegas for the 4th of July this past year. Like you, I was there because I just "needed" a vacation for a change. You'll find a few photos on my blog below. We stayed in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and the cost wasn't too extreme. If you do gamble, be sure to join the Players Club and use your card in every slot machine or at every table while playing. We did and our 3 day stay was completely comp'ed because we gambled enough. Essentially, we didn't pay a dime for the hotel room. Be aware that it will be hot and crowded too. If you're not into crowds, this may not be the best time to go. The heat isn't a big deal at all. Most of your time will be spent indoors anyway. The only time you'll be outside, is when you're walking between casinos for 5 minutes at a stretch. because of the crowds, you should be consciously aware of your surroundings at all times and make sure you're guarded about your wallet. Pickpockets do their best work when it's crowded! The fireworks for this past 4th of July were shot off the roof of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, so if you want to see the fireworks, ask at the front desk or the concierge to find out where they're showing this year. Have fun! I did! .
