Would working in Las Vegas with a business degree a good idea?

  • Hi I'm Randy, I'm just using my big bros account on this for some help. I'm a freshman at the university of Nevada, las vegas and I'm majoring in busniess. I was just wondering if that was a good idea? I've been trying to research the job market here but havent really found anything. My big brother goes to school with me but he's pre-med and he keeps telling me to go into something where your always gonna have job security such as healthcare but I dont wanna do that. so I was just wondering what kind of job I would be able to get in Las Vegas with a Management of Information systems or Marketing degree. I really dont wanna move anywhere wlese to work this is my home where my whole life is! any input would help thanks

    Gee Randy, how did you get in college if you live in Las Vegas, and don't already understand that Nevada has the country's 2d highest unemployment rate? With the economy as it is a Marketing degree will be as useless as toilet paper, unless as your brother said, it was connected in some way with a health care system.

As a freshman you are not expected to decide your major. Get the basics out of the way. But a degree in business will help those in business, a degree in IT for those wanting to into computer, etc. Go talk talk to the counselor who is paid to help you best

Your brother is correct about Healthcare and job security. However, why work a job if you hate it ? I am a professional gambler right here in Vegas and I love it.

You should be fine. Business relates to any casino, also the call centers, banking and insurance. You will be fine. IS is also good you have the casions, and hospitals. They will all need people with your skills.
