How do I get a room with a view of the strip?
-
I plan on going back out to Vegas in January. I would like to stay around Caesars, Ballagio, Paris.. that area. I would like a room that overlooks the strip and one that I can see the fountains of the Ballagio from my room, an unobstructed view. I looked up the floor plans for the hotels out there, but they only list the main floor (casino, restaurants, etc) not the rooms themselves. What do I ask for when making reservations? Can this be done by using those online reservations or do I have to contact the hotel themselves? I don't want a view of the parking lot or a pool. What do I ask for? How do I know they are not going to get me a crappy room ahead of time? I've been out there before, and, by chance, I've always gotten a good view, but, how can I make sure that's what I get? Any help would be appreciated, I'm trying to plan my honeymoon. I got married there last year, and we weren't able to stay out as long as I wanted. I just want to make sure everything is just right. Thanks.

Answer:
No hotel will guarantee you a view of the Strip the Bellagio fountains or anything else regardless of what you book, everyone it seems wants to have a view of the Strip and less than half of all rooms have a decent Strip view. All rooms are assigned at check in and any preferences are simply preferences that the hotel will try to accommodate, this includes smoking/non smoking King/Queen beds. On our honeymoon we booked a Hollywood Suite 4 months in advance and ended up with a Spa suite as no Hollywood was available and we had no choice. For the best view of the fountains you need to get a deluxe view room at Bellagio there are 4 of these on each floor (we have booked one for Xmas) but as I have said until check in its not guaranteed. Paris and PH have views of the fountains and I think some rooms in the Augustus tower at Caesars. The beauty of staying at Bellagio is that one of the TV channels has the music playing and this makes them 10 times better. Its worth using the $20 trick just to get the view your success rate for a better view will be much better than for a free upgrade. http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2007/12/05/las-vegas-20-free-room-upgrade-trick/ Hope this helps. Sorry I have seen that people are saying call up to book I dissagree at least when you book you can have it in writing what you want but if they dont have the rooms they can not give them to you whatever calling up makes no difference (we did this on our suite and reconfirmed a week before in person) the earlier you checkin as long as you are prepared to wait the more chance you have of getting your preference

If you look at Planet Hollywood's room options here http://www.planethollywoodresort.com/acc_hip_fountain_view.php and you run your mouse over "Hollywood Hip Room" it shows the option for fountain view. The description for this room is this Enjoy a variety of amenities along with a view of the famous fountains. Choice of King or two Queen beds 450 square feet 42" Plasma Television Real movie memorabilia in every room Oversized bathrooms Multi-use Armoire Iron/Ironing Board Wired/Wireless Internet (for a fee) All guests receive complimentary Valet Parking or Self Parking If you put in your dates and go to the reservation calendar, under "select room type" use the dropdown menu to go to "Fountain View HH." It shows the room ranging from $219- $289 for weeknights, but it drops down to $189/night during the last week of November. Paris Of their 4 room choices, the Premium Guest Room includes a breathtaking view of the strip. http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/paris-las-vegas/casino-misc/premium-guest-room-detail.html So if you book this room, you should definitely have a view. This room runs anywhere from $150- $300 for weeknights. Bellagio This is a pretty expensive hotel anyway, but you might be able to find a deal using this link http://smartervegas.com/hotels/bellagio/promotionalcodes.aspx According to their website, it says their guest rooms offer "sweeping views of Lake Bellagio and our Pools and Courtyards" http://www.bellagio.com/hotel/guest-rooms.aspx, but I'm guessing you would probably have to call and ask for one facing the fountains. I think those would be the three main hotels that would allow you to see an unobstructed view of the fountains, the other hotels don't boast that their rooms face the fountains, so they might not.

all you have to do is ask when you book. you will pay more for a strip view room. sorry, but Simon is wrong on this one...most hotels will guarantee if you pay for a strip view

I would call the hotel to make the reservation. On line services sometimes can get that wrong. So ask for exactly what you want.

Well, when you make your availability requests, ask if they have rooms with such requirements. Then, when you make your booking, specify it and request an email confirmation. Don't forget to reconfirm a couple of weeks AND a couple of days before your stay, and print your email confirmation. As you check in, tell the receptionnist that you booked a room with a view etc... should there be any issue upon arrival, ask to see the duty manager and he/she will try their best to make teh proper change for you.... have fun!

When you make the reservation ask them to note your preference of a room with a specific view. AND when you check in again make that request. We never had a problem following that pattern.

I suggest you go on line and look on a site such as expedia. Each of the hotels you have strip or pool views available. I don't blame you for wanting a wonderful view. Below I have a website that specializes in 360 degree web views of vegas hotels. It will default to the pool site but you can pull up more. Expedia also has some access to 360 views of most hotels rooms and suites. Remember, be very demanding regarding your room because some views are better than others. If you do not specifically request a strip view you may get a view of the mountains instead or a garden. I strongly advise you to use the computer to research your trip but use a good travel agent to actually book it. They will almost certainly be able to get the same services you do but when they plug in their codes they save you money. Make sure they take care of everything, including demanding a wonderful strip view.

It would cost a little more but call the hotel direct and ask for a room on a high floor overlooking the strip.
