Making a major move such as that without doing research - including a visit - isn't wise. You're on the Internet already, so why not use the resources to get your information, if you don't want to use a library. I'd guess that a search on "relocating to Nevada" would give you lots of leads. From what I've read, Nevada has a high unemployment rate.

Yeah, you guys should do some serious thinking before moving to Vegas. Following are my ansewers to your questions: are there alot of jobs down there? Well, the country is suffering from the ecomomical embarassment. The umemployment rate is rather high in Vegas now like many other metropolitan cities. Several friends of mine have been struggling to find a well-paid job. But it turns out that most jobs now are at minmum wage. You should be prepared for that, i suppose. Still, tourism has generated plenty of emploment opportunities for the city. So, good luck :) how much does your average utilities cost in the summer / winter The average utilities cost in summer is much higher than winnter. It's freaking hot in summer and not that cold in winter. Well, as for the specific cost, you can refer to my bill this month: Electricity: $80.00 for 600kwh Gas: $28 for 30 Therms Water: 6-7k gallons My house is nearly 2000 sf. You can take it for handy reference. how hot is it in July / December? July is the hottest month and December is coolest. Ok, I’ll give you the avg low and avy high temperature of both months: Month avg low avy high July: 81°F 105°F December: 39°F 57°F I feel warm in winter. But the summer is just outrageously hot!!! If you want get more knowledge of the weather, please visit: http://www.lasvegashotelsadvisor.com/hotels-travel/las-vegas-weather.html Are there alot of nice Section 8 communities? There are no dearth of Section 8 communities. Lots of Section 8 rentals are available in Las Vegas. As far as i know, some decent Section 8 communities can be found in Villanova. You'll be fine as long as you stay away from north of downtown Las Vegas. You should check the following link for more options: http://www.gosection8.com/section_8_affordable_housing/nevada_section_8_affordable_housing_rentals.aspx Hey, how do you think about this apartment? They do accept Section 8 Vouchers: http://www.rentalads.com/rental.asp?go=141 That's all i can find to help you and hope helpful :)

Are there jobs in Vegas ? Vegas is one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Utilities: Mine are only around $100 per month, but I leave everything off almost all day and don't turn them on until I go to bed. I hear people complaining in the summer of paying $400 or more for air conditioning in their homes. How hot is it? It can get very hot Section 8 ? I don't know Vegas is a crime ridden town. I would not move here if I were you.

the unemployment rate right now is at its highest, but if you are willing to work at like a Albertsons or walmart ya mite be able to find elmployment depending on how much energy you consume around $50 cause some buildings will provide heat & ht water.........you just pay for electricity/gas Summer June-Sept is like average high 80's-120's winter is still like in the 70's...all other times of year are like a Fall warmth......rain is rare, but when it does rain better get out the boots cause its more like a flash flood, the city streets are not built for rain, so they flood over many areas accept section 8, but the further from the main hotels the better the rent...like N of Sahara Ave.. there are not alot of critters, they mostly live in the mountain areas... but the Crickets..best get a screen door, cause if they get in ya house you will go insane trying to make it a smear on the sports page, lol here is a link for housing communities for low income http://www.snvrha.org/

Hi, I'm on board with everyone else. If you don't have that job lined up in advance, you're only looking for trouble out here. I'm sure the homeless shelters are feeling the boom of the recent industry crash and they were crowded when I worked there several years back. I understand that Worchester, MA has the cheapest rent right now and am trying to figure out how that is. Back to your question, though. Utilities are super cheap here compared to the east coast, but they are probably going to be raising a bit. I was used to $150 -200/month budgeted back east, but our combined gas/electric barely ever gets above $100 here even with the heat in the summer and running the A/C. The heat is a drier heat out here, so you don't get all sticky sweaty, but you do go through a ton of moisturizer and water. Public water is priced per how much you use in a month and the more you use, the more it costs. I also work at a job that allows me to visit people in their homes and I have seen some very nice section 8 housing in places like The Residence at Canyon Gate (link posted below) that is on the west end. They are condos and there are lots of included amenities. I'm sure if you contacted a realtor (there are hundreds still out here) they could give you some information, too. Critters? Well, I hope you don't mind spiders (the poisonous kind, like the black widow and brown recluse). There are also lots of cockroaches running around all over the city place, in parks, around buildings, on sidewalks (especially at night)--most buildings/places keep them sprayed away pretty well. Every once in awhile we see coyotes around near the outskirts of the city (don't think they stray too far inward, though). I've hear of snakes (rattlers, etc.), but fortunately have never come across them myself, even out at Red Rock Canyon or Mt. Charleston. I do want to remind you to seriosly think about your choice to move, though, without a job lined up. Our state has had HUGE budget cuts that are impacting the public, such as big cuts in schools/teachers and public safety. This year was the first year that Hoover Dam saw a rise in the water level, though minimal, in years...mostly it's been dropping...so the prospects for a long range settling are looking like things are not going to be getting much better in the near future. A great site to help you compare different cities is listed below with the sources ad suggest you take a look there, too. You can type in any city and get results of those, too, to help you compare. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.

Vegas is a city in the Mojave Desert where there is not a true four seasons. The summer is three plus months over 100, we jsut hit 44 days. It is wide open with people living here and visiting from around the world. The COL is high because almost everything has to be "trucked" in. Locals learn to limit gamble, like an evening at the movies, so night life is generally like any other city for locals. Otherwise visitors enjoy the night life of a city 24/7 and the associated costs, eg clubs. People who live here work all three shifts so sometimes you never see, meet or even talk to your neighbor. It is a regular city away from the tourist areas with malls, churches, schools, etc. Because it is a large area a car is best because of the limited, slow bus system. Cabs are very expensive. People who come here thinking they will quickly get a job or make "quick money" are sadly surprised it won't happen.
