I have a question about my drivers license.

Question about getting a drivers license in las Vegas.?

  • I have a friend who lives in las Vegas. She is a new residence there and wants to get a drivers license. she has a valid drivers license from Guam. Does she needs to take the driving test or can she just surrender the Guam license and take the written test only.

    Guam is a US protectorate, and their licences are considered the same as any state for conversion to a Nevada State DL, just go in to any of the DMV offices here in Vegas, go early because you will have to wait, when you first go in, you will stand in line for the "information booth", you tell them what you want, they tell you what to do and what papers to fill out, they give them to you, you do what they say, and you get your new DL that day, if your Guam license is still valid. Figure on spending a couple of hours doing what you need to do, just waiting for an examiner, filling out the current address, getting an eye exam, and getting your new license... Piece of Cake!

Hm...Guam is tricky, I don't know if different rules would apply? I came with an out of state license and just filled out very little paperwork, took a quick eye exam and a new photo. You don't surrender the license, they just punch a hole in it to make it invalid.

She should either go to the Nevada state DMV website and look that up or go to a DMV office in person and ask.

Yes unless Nevada has what is known as a reciprocal agreement. She can call or look it up online
